I start of by saying I am not a royalist. Don't wish them harm but have no interest in them.
So on Thursday during a quite moment in session. I turned to T and said "help, one of my 24yr old daughters is becoming a royalist. She's been watching The Crown, on Netflix, and has said she won't eat next years Xmas dinner until we've watched the Queens speech lol. T then said, well, you will let them watch these programmes. Lol I then asked T if she would curtsey if she met the Queen? T said, she wouldn't even go. Couldn't be bothered with all that dressing up and being in that environment. Those were my exact thoughts on the topic. Wondered if she was in my head. Lol. Than she said "Id say" alright " if I saw her in the street maybe lol. That was my most royal session. Off with their heads. Last edited by Anonymous59090; Jan 21, 2018 at 04:40 AM. |

I think the vast majority of the UK (myself included) shares the indifference you and your T describe. My mother in law wanted to watch the speech on Christmas day. She watched it in an empty room.

I'm no royalist either, but I have really enjoyed watching the Crown. The writers have given the queen some great and poignant dialogue, it's hard to believe that she was that eloquent and articulate in practice when those events happened, but I found it to be an engaging dramatization. You might enjoy the episode when the Kennedy's visited Buckingham Palace and magnificently ignored the protocol (why the hell should anyone be told how to greet the Queen?). It sounds nice that you have those moments of genuine connection with your T.

These are the kinds of moments that bring people so close to their Ts and...I believe...make progress possible!

I'm a person with a certain lack of reverence about almost everything (system); I work in the legal system so this is both important to have (because it's such a screw up) and necessary (as so many clients have been screwed over by social services, education, law, etc.). My T started out working with public aid clients where he would actually accompany them to the public aid office and help them navigate through the wacky b.s. and government red tape. I do not think I could see a T who didn't have an appreciation that any system (including mental health) was full of idiocy. In other arenas of my life, I run into people all the time who seem to think that government and social services actually do their job, but of course that's because they have never had to deal with people who use their systems or deal with the systems themselves. It's aggravating, especially as a woman of a certain age, I have less tolerance for b.s. than I used to.
I'm glad you could share a funny moment in T, though. I appreciate the humor that is often a part of my therapy. |

Funny we talked about that too. I stared of talking about pedophile rings, happening at the moment in the news by a certain culture, which led T on to talking about abusers that exist in teaching, social services, government etc. I think thats why she goes it alone. |

I’ll trade you an orange man baby for one of your royals (I’m not a royalist though many Americans are. Still would prefer one over our “leader”)
