I'm wondering if it's partly because he used to work with MC and ex-T, who have a rather small waiting room that can get quite cramped--once I even had to stand, it was so crowded! (then someone offered me a seat). I really like the bigger waiting room, makes me feel more calm and so I don't have to sit in close proximity to a stranger when I'm likely already stressed.

That makes sense, and sounds helpful! I think with my therapist and his officemates it's a combination of intentional scheduling choices and happenstance... I suspect they all schedule so differently that it tends to stagger appointments naturally, but I also wonder if they have a formal or informal arrangement to not all be in the office at once. Or maybe it's just that I'm only there when it"s peaceful at less busy hours, and at peak times it turns into an overcrowded madhouse! I definitely wouldn't enjoy a cramped/crowded waiting room if it happened regularly... I don't mind seeing other people, but I would hate having to maneuver through a packed room right after an intense session.
