Today I emailed my T the three songs I listen to on repeat when I am really depressed. She has asked before what I listen to but I wasn’t ready to share. It just feels really personal. So after almost 4 years I decided to finally share. I am feeling somewhat vulnerable. She said she would listen to them and use it for content at our next session.
Has anyone else ever done this? |

I just feel like I am exposing my soul to her.

I would love to do that. In the little bit of therapy I've been in, no one really paid that much attention. The downside I could anticipate would be that I might be nervous about what someone would have to say about it.

Yes, sharing music was the first thing I did that was beyond just talking. Yes it was scary. I have since shared lots of music, tv show/movie clips, and a world of other things.
I will often use something like these as a way to explain my feelings or introduce a topic. My T has always been receptive to whatever I bring in with a interest as to what it means to me. Good job stepping out of your comforts and giving it a try. I hope it goes well. |

I sent him a link on Saturday to Iris by the Goo goo dolls. "Sooner or later it's over and I don't just want to miss you tonight " |
