To my consternation, I find that my voice often seems to go up a half octave when speaking to the therapist. This is humiliating and I also believe it's what prompted her to ask me my age.

Does this happen to anyone else? What did you do about it?

I wouldn’t say that my voice gets squeaky, but I do have a “therapy session voice” where it goes all small and quiet and nothing at all like my normal voice. But I suspect my therapist also has a “therapist voice” - one that is purposely gentle and calm.
