I'm feeling more optimistic now, I talked some stuff out in PM with someone

here's my painting so far. i put it behind the warning (which i hope works with pictures) because i don't want to trigger anybody. although it looks so awful it may not even resemble what it is supposed to! once it dries i was gonna add some highlights, but.... i may just cover it all in black and start over...

please bear in mind this is my first try at painting something that wasn't either fingerpaints as a little kid or using a roller on a wall. lol

Hi couchies. Here is an update/brain dump:

Pros:
-I finally had a two-day weekend and got a ton of chores/errands done
-My roommate got a job that requires her to talk with people so she is no longer quite as desperate to socialize with me when I get home in the evenings
-My new therapist is turning out to be not as abhorrent as I thought he would be
-Therapy group is getting more tolerable with the addition of two members who have the ability to converse like grown-ups (e.g. engage in discussion of another person's problem without bringing up some totally irrelevant issue going on in their life)
-I get to go to sleep in two hours

Cons:
-I didn't study *at all* for my board exams this weekend (though the fail rate is like 4% so it doesn't actually matter--the studying is more a matter of pride/Good Form than true necessity)
-I also didn't go grocery shopping, which I'm going to regret (though I suppose I could go now...)
-Starting tomorrow I've got two weeks of 12h/d 6d/wk (not the worst schedule my residency program has up its sleeve by any means, but still a recipe for relative exhaustion)

Update: just wandered into the kitchen to get a snack and realized that there is not a single fresh fruit or vegetable in the house. I'm going to throw some sweatpants on and run to the overpriced-but-close-by place down the road...

Hi all- I'm new here and hoping I can jump onto the couch, too! A little online research brought me to this site recently, and I relate to a lot that's brought up in the discussion boards. Why am I sideways?
I promise my real hammock did not do that.

Camping was delightful and relaxing, except that the Saturday neighbors on both sides seemed to be sorely lacking adjectives, so they threw in "f***ing" to describe nearly everything around them. Loudly. It was like being in The Big Lebowski without bowling.

But the creek was beautiful and not too cold so that even I went in for a swim, the boys tried cooking pancakes on the campfire, lots of card games and rest time, the hammock was a lovely place to read with the trees above, and our dear longtime friends are a blessing to be with, so even the lack of variety in the language around us did not spoil the outdoors too much.

I feel re-centered and more balanced for the next round of conversation and decision-making.

All the things are clean at last.

Although, I didn’t wash the sofa cover.

I also have developed a theory that the only effect of cleaning is to rearrange the dirt in more attractive ways.
