Hello all- I recently wet my pants during therapy without even realizing it until it happened. Very embarrassing. Was wondering if anybody else had similar experiences with soiling, wetting, vomitting,. etc? to cheer me up?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum ! I've probably coughed and passed wind a few times , embarrassing things happen , but they do happen. I do recall someone here saying they vomited into their therapist's wastepaper basket , so I hope that will cheer you up !

I'm so sorry that happened. Is it related to being diabetic? I'm sure therapists deal with this stuff somewhat regularly, and your T probably understands your medical issues.
Thanks for this!

I'm sorry that happened to you. Diabetes sucks!
A couple of times I have been afraid to move, for fear that I will fart. I suck in my gut, hold my butt-cheeks together, and try my hardest not to waddle out the door.

It occurs to me that the anu$ is the smartest muscle in the body. It has to express gas while retaining liquid and solid, it has to know whether your pants are up or down, and it has to know whether you are alone or with company. It is one smart muscle!

There, feel better now?

Gretchen

Haha I sometimes have to really struggle not to fart in front of people in general! I had a period of a few years when my farts bothered me LOL
I don't know why but the issue has recently disappeared on its own

My mother has diabetes and she is frequently running off to the bathroom. As a medical student still in training, I've also seen this with a few patients.Sometimes it's not possible to control your body.

I'm sure your T understands.

I haven’t had an accident (yet), but I have very heavy periods and my T has white fabric armchairs. Naturally, I’m paranoid. Could be a matter of time.

Yikes, that would be awful. Hopefully you don't have that experience ever.

Have you ever discussed this fear with him? I know it's awkward but honestly... mine even knew when I was having mine.... once I started talking about it, and saw how unphased he was, it became easier to bring up, even as a joke so he kinda figured things out and basically knew. Was weirdly comforting

Oh god I don’t think I can bring that up with him ahah. I’m sure he’d be unphased but still. How did you go about it?

Initially it kinda just came out. In my mind, I was mortified for ages to even consider anything like it so that's why it took so long but when we got to discussing my surgery, which is related to periods and such...I just started taking casually about it and was like, oh wait, he's just sitting there normal.... lol... and he seemed really sad for me and was kind about it all, so after that initial convo, I was so comfortable with him as it was, that it just became normal seeming to bring up...like I would with a female friend or something.

I've also mentioned my period to my T. Yes, it felt weird at first but it was absolutely OK no big deal :-) I said o was irritable because I was on my period or I mentioned PMS.

My T knows I have bladder issues
Possible trigger:

and while what you have described hasn't happened to me, I do sometimes go to the toilet mid session and he's totally understanding of that. I'm sure your T didn't think anything of it.

The thing about periods is, while male T's haven't personally experienced them, they are aware of it happening to females. So it's not like it's gonna shock them and make them faint or anything. If your male T has a wife or ever had a GF, they for sure have been around women going through it. Heck, even female family members, although less likely to be openly aware of that.

I am a bariatric patient and sometimes my gut makes these loud, wretched sounds that I can’t control. Always while in session, of course.

Also, my T has pristine white chairs to sit on. I’ve had a hysterectomy but for some reason still have nightmares about bleeding all over them.

I once choked on some hard candy she keeps for her clients (and herself) to chew. I couldn't stop coughing, I thought I'd die. She had to get me a glass of water in one of her fancy glasses. Oh well.

I've not had anything embarrassing that I'm aware of. At the beginning when I dissociated a lot I would worry about if I had wind or anything and didn't know what was going on. She also didn't realise at the time how much I would dissociate. I remember once her stomach grumbled really loudly and I wrapped my arms around my stomach as I thought it was mine and felt embarrassed until I realised it was hers.
I always worry about starting my period so if I'm due on I always wear a pad just in case and if I'm on I double up as I'm paranoid about leaking in there. I have had I discussion about periods when I was 11 and she was good but I get really embarrassed and can't talk about periods if I'm on due to my past probably
