can flashbacks involve physical sensations such as being touched? I don't know if it is a flashback or if the voices have become able to touch me. I'm scared of it

Yes , they can , they put you back in a situation where something has happened. Try to see it as your body responding physiologically to trauma. My T would call them " body memories " or " physical flashbacks " I understand its scary for you. Hugs.

Yes. Flashbacks can be just tactile or involve any one sense, they don’t have to be all the senses

I've had a few flashbacks as well where I've felt like I'm being touched. It's quite distressing! But it can definitely happen, I think there's a specific term for it even, but I can't remember it right now...

I hope you can ground yourself and manage to get away from those memories for a while!
Thanks for this!

This is a technique my T taught me which is effective when these things come up , and I also use on other occasions to ground.

That's fascinating...I wish I'd known about this last week.

Many of my flashbacks are body memories. I think this is partly because of preverbal trauma.

Because traumatic memories are stored as individual sensory perceptions (could be from any sense), not necessarily connected in time or space, flashbacks can have this single-note quality as well. Auditory flashbacks can make people feel like they are going nuts, "hearing voices." Although I usually experience flashbacks like photo snapshots, I've had flashbacks of physical pain, smells, and sounds. Can be completely discombubulating. Also just emotional flashbacks, such as fear or distress or even guilt.

Good book that explains this, The Body Keeps the Score by bessel van der kolk.
