I need someone like a life coach, or a therapist. I’m not sure who. Someone who can be by my side to help empower me to stand up for myself in a very difficult time. Someone who can help me help myself.
I guess one would hire a life coach for this? Has anyone here had experience with someone who helped them like this?

The closest to what you've described, that I've had was a community mental health case manager, who I had for about a year and a half. I got her when I was discharged from a psych hospital after a four week stay, and we met for approximately half an hour each week. She helped me set goals and stay on track with meeting them, as well as setting me up with some other resources that I didn't know about.
I was in transitional housing at the time, and doing much worse mentally than I am now, so I needed the help, but after a year and a half with her, I didn't need her support any more so we ended it. I know things are really different between the US and Canada, but she was with a publicly funded agency, so it didn't cost me anything. splitimage |

I agree a case manager. She's helping me transition out of moms house, connect to services. I used to just see my psychiatrist and a therapist. Now I'm a dbt graduate, in group, have an arms worker (i cancelled that but if I move I'll restart it).
