Outside of holidays, I have my sessions in the evening when it’s dark. Last time I went to session, T switched the room lights off and turned the lamp light on, which she also dimmed. I assume to create a more relaxing environment? I loved it, as I prefer spending time in the dark. Wish she could make it even darker so she couldn’t see me clearly, and thus reducing my anxiety.

Anyhoo, how’s the environment like during your sessions? How would you like it to be? (I wish, for example, that we could sit beside each other rather than opposite, as that would help, again, with anxiety, but also perhaps feel more warming. We only have two one-seated couches though)

I saw my t in the early evening after work (5pm usually) and one or the other of us would always turn the lamp off when I got there; I so much preferred the natural, early-evening light coming in the windows after staring at my computer screens all day working. She also had a candle or two burning most of the time. It was a lovely, calming environment that I so much appreciated.
Thanks for this!

I also see my T in the early afternoon. Regardless of the light outside, we usually sit in the dark with a couple of lamps. I need that to feel more open.

I get sleepy when it's too dark, so I like it not too dimmed, but a nice, warm light is better than bright white.

I see T in the early afternoon and his office is naturally super bright with natural light. I love this as I get scared if there are dark places in the office and I can’t see. I would think the lighting would be dim in his office in the evenings which I would like for some things... now I might have to ask! But a bright open office is very fitting to T’s personality and style of work. T sits across from me but puts the chairs closer than he used to because he knows it makes me feel safer. I *think* if I ask he will put his chair up next to mine or at least very close.

I have very sensitive eyes and requested the main light off, when it got too dark for that she went out and bought a lamp. She says not just for me, it is a nicer atmosphere in general but I think i was probably a reminder.

My T has an office without any windows so natural light is not an option. She has a couple of lamps that she uses instead of the overhead fluorescent lights. I appreciate the softer light.
