I went to a t once and she was dressed very inappropriately! A dress that was far too tight and revealing. I didn’t feel comfortable and never went back

For a long time T only wore professional dresses. For about a year she worked one day a week at a local college. She was asked to no longer wear skirts because some of the boys were distracted by it. Her dresses were always below the knee so when she sat down it went to her knees.

This is, to me, more of just one more way to control women by judging/criticizing/blaming them for what they wear.

I agree. She worked at a very well known, expensive college. One where most families are very wealthy. So it was all about making sure the kids were happy and, therefore, the parents were happy. T was flabbergasted because she was over 60 years old and dressed and appeared her age.

There are no should's here. A T is entitled to dress however they want. It seems far-fetched to speculate that any T would choose their attire to cater to any client's desires. Personal taste, expression of their quirks or personality, yes. But dress to satisfy any clients expectations? That's absurd.
Likewise, clients can wear whatever they want. IF a client isn't happy with the way their T dresses, nothing stops them from shopping for another T. A therapy relationship isn't about changing the therapist to how we want them to be or dictate to them what they ought to wear. |

I'm not much into "shoulds" about other people's attire. I have my personal druthers, and perhaps even I'd be turned off by the attire of a therapist perhaps, but that doesn't mean the therapist "should" dress any differently for me. That means I would probably need to find a different therapist who fit my personal druthers. I've never personally run into a therapist whose attire even crossed my mind as an issue though, so I'm not even certain what that line of "Nope. Can't look at that and bare my soul" is. LOL.
I'm assuming therapists who work for a larger organization probably have some sort a dress code agreed to by their larger employer. Those in independent practice can dress as they wish. |

They should dress true to themselfs. Although I'd prefer if they dressed all in black and blend into the background.
