I just came out of a short but difficult bout of depression and I am starting to feel much better. I saw my pdoc 2 days ago and I was able to sit and look him in the eye. When I am depressed I can’t even look in his general direction. But this session I was able to talk and actually carry on a conversation with him. He even pointed out that I had on my glasses so he knew I could really see him.

Thats good when you can look them in the eyes' makes you feel like you've achieved a major break through.

Hi DePress,

glad you are feeling better.

I love this! When I have been feeling down and then feel better T often points out things to me such as how my eyes are clearer or I am talking more. And yes, I can certainly look at him more and engage when I am not depressed.

Peace

That is great...I wonder if I'll ever be able to look at my T or my Pdoc.

That is great! I've realized lately how often I don't look my T in the eye. I'm trying to figure out why.

I'm glad you feel so much better too!

DPM,
I know what you mean. I have difficulty with eye contact at times (most all of the time). I take a clipboard and pen in when I go into session with my T so I can draw while we are talking. I'm a horrible artist -- I usually just draw triangles or whatever. But it helps me because I don't have to think about, should I look up now? Okay, I'm looking now, how long should I look? etc. I'm so glad you are feeling better!!!
