There’s nothing I can do about it without getting myself caught but I found him on Facebook a few minutes ago. His Facebook is not private. In one post he talks about how he is a snob who drives a Mercedes and drinks wine. In another post it’s a screenshot of him getting into an argument with some guy in a PM on Facebook and my pdoc is saying how rich he is. and then the strangest one is him using sexual language and saying things like “I’ll be home **** instead of I’ll be home sick” and then laughing and commenting about the typo I always thought the guy was a bit off. I mean, at least make your page private if your gonna post that way. No wonder my therapist talks badly about him. I know there’s nothing I can do without getting myself in trouble, but does anyone have any comments?

Well, that is not nice, sure. But the pdoc is just meant to prescribe medications and have knowledge about them, so you don't really need to do anything, I think.

My only comment would be that I wouldn’t let it affect the relationship you have with him unless he’s a **** to you. Is the standard of care good? You’re not responsible for him or his actions so as long as you’re fine with the care you’re getting, I’d leave this in the trash bin.

Why’d you go looking, if I can ask?

Honestly I think I’m a bit loopy from all the meds I’ve taken tonight to try to get rid of a panic attack.

I mean it just seems like common sense. Yeah I also talk like that on my Facebook and talk badly about my job and my coworkers. But my Facebook is so private people can’t even send me messages unless they are friends with me and can’t send me friend requests unless they are friends of friends and all my posts are completely private from the outside So nothing will fall into the wrong hands. But yeah you guys are right.

You don't "need" to do anything.

Is he a good doctor for your medical needs? Some professionals are really odd ducks in their personal lives but they are fantastic in their profession. Heck, we've even tolerated some medical specialists who had horrible bedside manners because their work in their specialty was superb and hard to find equal for.

PDoc's are just formaly trained people who prescribe drugs and claim a superior knowledge of brain things , many of them after 5 years out of school ,forget how to practice actual physical medicine .

The thing to remember, they are just people who went to school , outside of there office they have all the inate flaws, bias ,chips on their shoulders ,are impatient, hate traficc jams ,hate spam, robo calls etc etc ,like everyone else walking the face of the earth .

In their office they put on a public persona/ "face", to try and counsel people and be understanding ,but outside of work ,they let there hair down and just be people , I have seen some of my local guys behaving badly ,one guy pdoc locally a few years ago ,had a case of road rage in traffic when someone cut him off ,he pulled a gun and shot at the other driver , of course with a fancy lawyer and alot of excuses he got a year of probation instead of the more serious attempted murder , the wealthy have there own version of justice based on there bank account (although his has been shriking since then ,for some strange reason patients who saw him arrested and perp walked on the news, arent flocking to his practice?).

There are millions of marginal doctors out there ,there is only one student in every class who is first ,and we usually don't have access to records that tell us ,such and such doctor has a particular aptitude or attitude for the job , so when you do catch a glimpse of who a physician really is ,don't be shocked ! Not all people are nice and not all are evil ,we are lucky to find a good balance of each in any one individual.

Maybe one day PDoc's will be computers like Watson who will take down your syptoms ,compare them against millions of other people and spit out a diagnostic code for insurance and a cure for us ,until then we are stuck with ordinary humans as doctors .

There is an E.R doc I follow on you tube , he is a highly competent doctor, very skilled and hilarious , try searching Zdogg M.D. and watch some of his talks and the rewrites of hit song parady's( think medical version of "Weird" Al Yankovic) it will show you whats behind the white coat is a person just like you .

I mean he prescribes me Xanax when most doctors won’t even talk about prescribing it so for that reason alone I can deal with him being a douche. Do I trust him? Absolutely not. And for other reasons then just the Facebook stuff. Stuff that’s happened with me and with other people who see him.

Honestly it sounds to me like a pretty normal Pdoc, but then I don’t have a very high opinion of Pdocs in general. If he is a good fit for you and seems to do his job well then I would say to just ignore it. I adore my Pdoc, we have worked together 10+ years and “raised our kids together” (we talked kids a lot as our kids were close in age and we were similar in how we parented). If I saw something like that on her I personally would confront it but only because she has gone out of her way to present herself differently to me and I would feel as though she had lied. But... I have also met her kids and her husband (they were at the office one day so she introduced me), I know which (modest) car is hers in the parking lot and I know quite a bit of general information about her lifestyle.

Just to warn you the "war on drugs" and chronic pain patients is being expanded, and is coming to a benzodiazepine near you ! I am not unfortunately kidding , nationwide prescriptions for all controlled substances is being overhauled ,no more prescription pads ,everything has to be written and sent electronically , and medical records are being shared with federal controlled substances monitoring databases ,so they can better target and victimize people taking narcotics or now also Benzo's with new layers of hoops to jump through if you prescribe them . Doctors increasingly are required to check these databases before prescribing them to verify they are the only one prescribing them to the patient ,as well as go after polyphamacy ,people taking any kind of sedateing medication in combination with Benzo's( so anthistamines, antidepressants, antipsychotics, pain meds etc etc. ) clinical judgement/ compassionate medical care is being hijacked both by bean counters (insurance industry ) and multi layers of "abundance of caution" government and industry watchdogs .and not a single government or watchdog agency cares that as they make access to legal medications impossible ,they are driving the drug abuse illicit substance use and suicide rate into the stratosphere, and thats not counting the death rate from accidental oversose because everything is being adulterated with one of the 208 street versions of Fentanyl ,its cheap and easy to adulterate almost anything ( two years ago in Florida 12 people died taking "Xanax" it looked like real Xanax ,however they were counterfit and had lethal amounts of Fentanyl imported from China .sadly the largest drug supplier is currently the USPS .
Thanks for this!

Very true! My Pdoc prescribes klonopin or Valium for me. We tried everything from depression drugs, atypical antipsychotics... it was a huge list. Then we decided to simplify and she put me on Valium for my anxiety and wanted to see what happened to the other issues when the anxiety was managed. It worked wonders so we stuck with it. I could not see her for 3 years (was not working with a T) and when I came back she was worried about putting me back on them because they are cracking down so hard on them. I take it “as needed” and when we talked about what was the minimum dose and number of pills I thought I could manage with she was OK. The biggest concern she said was people on high doses or frequent doses and/or people consistently upping their dose. When she looked over my records she actually saw where my usage went down as I was able to get control over things so she went with it.

Do you think he is serious in those comments on FB or are they just jokes? Many people have an odd sense of humor that can sound a bit immature. If he doesn't bring unwanted attitude into the office, I personally would not mind at all. If he is serious, I would perhaps just conclude he is not the person I would want to be friends with.

I had a therapist who posts a lot of weird stuff on social media and it bothered me because he ended up being just like that in his practice with me. Part of it was presenting a professional values but practicing something entirely different, and not being able to tolerate any challenge or criticism. But if he had been a good T for me, I would not have cared about his online activity. I think most people have quirks and do weird things in personal life and some get a kick out of showing it off.
Thanks for this!

I wouldn't do anything. It is not my place to do anything anyway as it is his private life and he does and/or behaves however he wants to. The only thing that would matter to me is whether he were good at his job. It wouldn't affect me as I wouldn't have a personal relationship with him.

Now, it if were my T behaving like this I might have an issue (though again, it would be *my* problem as even they are entitled to behave however the hell they want), only because I would consider the relationship with T as more 'personal'.
Thanks for this!

Pdoc and therapists are just regular people. They aren’t omnipotent gods. The only thing is silly is him not having FB private. Other than that who cares. Drinking wine or driving Mercedes or making stupid jokes or cussing isn’t a sin in my books

This I can attest to. There use to be a psychiatrist and there is currently a psych np whi are really off ducks. They both are on the aspergers spectrum. Especially the dr. often made comments to patients that made us gasp. However they are VERY intelligent and now what the are doing. They alofyen have the hard to retreat and really ill patients because that is what they are good at.

One of the weird posts was a meme and it said “before anorexia and curves there was sexy” and it was a picture of a skinny women in a bikini. I always found him kind of off.
