Making this a dealbreaker before you even meet this person is being rather rigid and unrealistic in your expectations. I understand wanting to know so you can plan the rest of your schedule accordingly, but you do already have an appointment and should probably just assume that's what will be happening for the time being. If you really feel strongly about receiving a quick response for scheduling, you might want to see a therapist who has office staff to handle your queries. __________________ Life is hard. Waiting at my pdoc's office. I'm really hoping it goes okay today, because our last appointment 3 weeks ago didn't.

But you aren't really an established client yet. They are going to address rescheduling due to all of the holidays and other correspondence from established clients first and probably can't answer you email until all of that is settled. Many therapists have very little down time during the day and don't get to their emails, etc. until they have an hour without a client or perhaps at the end of the day, and with the holidays, it just may take longer to get around to all of the emails, etc.

I'm seeing my therapist tomorrow morning and I'm weirdly torn about whether or not I should bring up the fact that he started crying during my last session. I'd really like to understand what was going on for him (not sure why I'm so curious) but I don't want him to feel like I'm prying.

I have finished reading applications.
And there is a yummy-smelling quiche Lorraine (crustless) in the oven. |

Have been here on and off.
I’m moving! Finally! I mean I’m sorting and throwing away! Anyone move a lot and have any packing/sorting/throwing away advice ...any moving advice? I have one friend who is helping two days...but I’m feeling overwhelmed! Today I had my friend take the frou-frou crafty stuff down from walls and shelves and most of that went to Goodwill. I don’t have good luck getting on ladders or steps tools, myself, because I get dizzy. Move in is scheduled for Feb 1 (Maybe Feb 3). I need to find renter’s insurance, too. So much to do! I’m not going near as fast as I want. But it will be a good move once it’s done and I will be wistful but happier.... |

This is/was my mother’s house and I took care of her when she was ill. Now I have four people’s worth of stuff to sort through, including my own. Bedspreads! How many comforters/bedspreads does a person need! My mother liked to change things around a lot. Me, not so much. Don’t have her energy, darn it. Towels, pillow cases, knick knacks.. And there are collectibles. I’ll keep those. There’s an old traveling ink well, tons of jewelry, there is an old, old beaded purse from the very early 1900’s. Are doilies collectibles? I have tons of doilies. Mom has a sack of empty Avon ‘Brocade’ perfume. People want those? The towels and bed linens and such, I guess I can take them to my new place, match them up, then decide what to keep. I found a few ‘button tins’. One is very old. I’ll keep them because ..I don’t know? They remind me of my childhood. Now I’m 65, so you know these are old. Any silk flower arrangement, I gave away. I don’t have the loving patience to take care of them. I found two ‘Furby’s’ in their boxes. I bet SD would ‘ack’ at them. What should I do with probably vintage Star Wars toys that have been played with...ships and figures..and I dunno what all. They fill one huge tote.... More later... |

Our 11-year-old Scottish terrier appears to have suddenly gone completely deaf. We've been treating her for a really nasty ear infection since Christmas -- first one she's ever had. In the last few days, we've realized she does not hear us at all. Not even a response to really loud noises. We've accidently startled her out of a sleep a few times because she didn't hear us calling her as we approached her and when we touched her she jumped. Not sure if it was the ear infection or the antibiotics for the ear infection (which apparently have a possible side effect of causing deafness) or old age, or just the perfect storm of the three, but it has been sudden. Poor baby. I feel so badly for her.

There are two purring kittens walking back and forth across my lap. My plan to get kittens "for the boys" was brilliant because because somewhjeuhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAk
Oops, had a helper...somewhere along the line I mentioned not wanting to clean litter boxes as a reason, so the boys promised if we eventually got kittens they would do litter box duty. And they DO. Now the littlest is perched on the ottoman above the dog, watching the dog's tail. The dog likes the kittens and if they mew a lot he gets up to see if they are ok. The kittens adore crochety cat and follow him everywhere even though he pretends they are not there. But when they curl up on the couch to sleep, he settles to sleep right above them instead of across the room like he did when they arrived. And the boys are over the moon still about the kittens. It is delightful to see. __________________ Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by accidents of time, or place, or circumstance, are brought into closer connection with you. I think that was kitten for “man, did we luck out.”
I’ve been watching the first season of “You” on Netflix. The therapist smokes marijuana in session. And offers it to clients. The therapist is also kind of dumb and calls himself “Dr. Nicky.” |
