She has q picture that was drawn by a former client stand on the floor. I has been there I think for as long as I have seen her, over two years. She said a while back she needs to put it up. Part of me wants to bring something in to put it up because it drives me crazy being on the floor. Another part of me is so use to it being there and I'd s great focus as l point when I avoid looking at her.
Also, none of her chairs are very comfortable. the door to the office is quite narrow and even her straight back minimal stuffed chairs were very difficult to fit in.

I am thankful T doesn’t share his office and that his personality shows in it. He has 5 pictures in his office, 4 photographs and one print. All are nicely done and displayed well. The furniture is not my style but it is comfortable and isn’t so bad it makes me uncomfortable. He keeps his books in another room which I found odd at first but have come to appreciate. Sadly I did discover last week that the far door that I always wondered about is a bathroom. But I guess when you put offices in what was a home previously bathrooms and kitchens have to be somewhere?

I wonder if it is common to share offices even when Ts are in private practice.
T shared her office because she rented the space 2 days a week and somebody else rented it on other days. It wa very bland and the furniture while comfortable and cozy were provided by the owner of the building. For a period of time I saw her at her home office (for a whole she had the 2 offices) which was nicely decorated and comfortable. She had a plaque on a shelf with a joke about social workers. She told me her mom gave it to her. She and her mom had a very strained relationship which consisted of T reaching out on occasion mostly as a "good daughter" obligation. Emdr T use to sublet her office on days she did not work. Recently that T stopped practicing. The only difference in the office is that there are no longer children's board games on the shelf.

I really like my T's office. He has all kinds of stuff in it, stones, small sculptures, some Zen artwork, sand garden, lots of plants, a fish, windows on two sides overlooking trees, some books. Multiple boxes of tissues (which I use quite a bit!) I know some of the items are from clients. One item (that I believe is still there!) is a small white shell I brought back from the beach (found it on beach 2 summers ago) and asked if I could put in his office. I also have a small stone from his office (Stone 3.0) as a transitional object. He does have a photo of his son on his desk that I've found myself sort of staring at sometimes. He had coasters with (I think!) his son's photo on it from when he was young, and I did feel sorta weird about putting my drink on those (and mentioned it). He seems to have put them away, or at least they aren't on the table by where I sit. When I terminated with T briefly in September, I realized that I'd really miss his office.

Another thing that bothers me about T's office which I can mention here...it smells rather fusty. I'm quite sensitive to smells so maybe it bothers me more than it would others so I try to ignore it and concentrate on the session.

My old therapist had a cute little dog, a King Charles spaniel, that she liked to have in the room with her. She asked me if that would be a problem and it first I said no, but after one session including the dog I had to tell her that yes, it was going to be a problem, because the dog was just too distracting. It kept jumping up, then jumping down, then running around -- well, you get the picture.
It was just too hard to focus.

My T uses her laptop when I’m with her. I’m not sure what she’s doing on it. I asked one time and she said something about clicking through files. A couple sessions ago she was typing really, really loudly about who knows what, and not paying much attention to what I was saying. The way she was typing reminded me of an episode of Henry Danger where someone was typing really loud. I asked her if she knew of the show. I didn’t mention her obnoxious typing though.

Ex-t has this painting/ink drawing (?) hanging in her office that I totally hated. It's absolutely creepy to me. At first it was hanging next to the door on the wall opposite the couch where I sat, I kept thinking about sticking a piece of paper over it when I came in but I never did. Kept forgetting to bring one with tape attached. One time when I took about a 4 month break or something I came back and she had moved it to the wall right next to the couch! True, I didn't have to see it unless I turned my head that direction, but now I felt like the lady in the painting/drawing was staring down at me! I hated that thing. So much. I told her right after it first appeared, she said something like "Really? I like it." so I didn't say anything else until our last session back in October, when I told her just how much I hated it and how creepy it felt to me. She said "I know. You told me."
