Has anyone recorded a video or voice session with their therapist now that we are in the era of remote sessions? For some reason, it feels like more of an option now than it did when we were working face-to-face. Maybe it feels more desirable to me now because I want to maintain connection.

It is weird. She sounds very different from how I experience her live - much more gentle. It has really highlighted the depth of my projections and the efforts I make to push away her care and attempts to connect with me. I re-cast her.

I sound much more northern than I thought! And awkward and inarticulate.

I've thought about wanting to do that. Not sure what the rules are about video/audio recording where you are, but in my state, everyone involved has to consent to the video or audio (only exception is video without sound, like security cameras/nannycams). So I'd feel uncomfortable doing that unless I asked permission. I did ask Dr. T a while back about possibly recording sessions, and it's something he wanted to think about. I never really brought it up again, because I was unsure of how *I'd* feel about it, as I don't like hearing myself in recordings. But maybe consider asking her?
Thanks for this!

Yes, we discussed it and she encouraged it. We discussed that it would be a good way for me to reflect on our relationship and how we work with what unfolds between us. Very often that is too difficult for me to tolerate in session because I am too well defended. She is also available for me to contact should I become distressed - I guess it wouldn't work for some clients because the therapist couldn't be there to help them contain anything which came up.
Thanks for this!
