Una, I'm not sure what that thing in your photo is, but every time I scroll past it, it catches my eye because it's very phallic in shape.
Thanks for this!

I wonder if my county is just testing more people or we are just doing a terrible job of social distancing. Two of the surrounding states are in the thousands of cases so I wonder if it's going to get that bad here as well.

My state has 152 confirmed last I heard, with I think 9 in my county. I'm kinda freaking out a little that L might be the most recent one because she's sick right now as I found out when I talked to her on Friday, and she said she's self-quarantining. I didn't ask and she didn't say if it was COVID or not. She did say she didn't have a fever so I'm hoping that means it's not but I don't know. I've heard that around here they won't authorize a test unless you have a fever. Anyway she said I should check in again next week so I'm going to. I think the numbers are so low here because they're just not testing as many people as they probably should be. Just a guess. Also I heard that last week some idiot dressed as a delivery man got into a clinic and stole a box of test kits!! What is wrong with people? They also stated in the news that the test kits are of no use without a lab to interpret the results. It's a crazy world out there. My son is still working, his shop makes parts for critical local industries, so he has to go in to work every day and they take their temperature before they are allowed to enter the building every morning.

It is a really cool thumbnail picture. I like it a lot too. How like ex-hankster to have the cool avatar (is that what it is called?)

If you Google what she says under it (UNA in Florida) you can see other pics of the building. It's pretty nifty.

I did Google it. I got some results about the United Nations and some photos of basketball games and a manatee, but to be honest I was just skimming and didn't go past the first page. Maybe I should have done an image search as well because I see it now. It's still very phallic. Especially from that angle. It's been a really long time. No SIM card shopping for me.

I really didn't see it as phallic at all. Just kind of reflecty glassy

I wonder what conclusions my therapist would come to because that's all I can see. I kept thinking it was some sort of sculpture or a very smooth rock formation. It's sometimes hard to tell what something is when the picture is shrunk down to avatar size.

Yes its my new home ha ha ha ha ha. Some idiot built a hirise in miami and named it the UNA Prices start at 2 million.

As a result of my googling it, my very smart phone keeps throwing up ads that say "UNA" (in idris elba's voice, if they were talkies)in HUGE letters, all bronze and polished, which i must say is doing wonders for my ego. I highly recommend the process. Its like automatic watchamacallits - affirmations!

I forget how i came across it to begin with it. It was pretty recent. Before the apocalypse. Maybe the price will go down and i will be able to get a una unit just on my good looks and personality .

There’s a smart thermometer tracking temperatures across the US for those who have the device. They’ve been able to predict where flu outbreaks might happen before the CDC can. And presumably also possible coronavirus outbreaks, by tracking where in the country there are atypical levels of fever.

Here’s their map: US Health Weather Map by Kinsa

Of course it has flaws: it’s limited to those with the thermometer, it includes non-coronavirus-caused fevers, if there are fewer cases of flu this year that will make their numbers seem typical, not atypical etc. But it might be worth keeping an eye on.

Had a good day off yesterday: went for a long walk outside in nature, did an online yoga class in the living room with my roommate, watched some Stranger Things with a friend via Netflix Party. I also did some work about how to keep our residents and nurses healthy and safe during these strange times.

Now back to work today. The good news is that I only have to do five days in a row this week, just like a normal person! (I then get Saturday off and have to work Sunday, but that’s not so bad!)

Apparently my school’s president is going to send us an audio message every Monday to encourage us by shouting “stay frosty!” at us.

Meanwhile he doesn’t want to refund room and board to students who have left campus.

My daughter's school has started this week posting "Morning announcements" on Youtube. It made me a bit sad, but it's good they're trying to do something. It was supposed to be "Spirit Week" this week, so they're saying kids can take pics of their outfits and they'll post. And they're saying to do 15 jumping jacks.

Our governor is due to have a press conference at 11. I suspect they'll at least announce a longer school closure, and probably a shelter-in-place/lockdown sorta thing. H is currently out attempting to find eggs (at least Costco had a sign saying they're out, so he didn't have to go inside). The perils of having a really picky eater...

Those are actually really good ideas on the school’s part!

Good luck finding eggs.

I forget who asked but, yes, Animal Crossing is like Stardew Valley. I think it has more social features than Stardew Valley if you're into that sort of thing, though.

Eggs may be available from outside sources -for example - I am going to get eggs from a hen rescue organization later today -they are organic, for a good cause, and it means I am not taking store eggs from those who have fewer choices. I found out about them through either nextdoor app or from a friend who is on facebook who told me about them.
My point is - if you can't find them in stores, there may be people with them (or even those who used to sell at farmer's markets that are now closed) who have too many eggs and are trying to sell them other ways.

Thanks for the egg suggestions! H had success at a local organic market (a store, not farmer's market) and said not many people were there. So perhaps that can be our food source for the near future. And they're closing nonessential businesses in the state at 5 today, but not doing an actual "shelter in place." But they can issue citations if people are gathering in groups of more than 10. Oddly, they didn't say anything about schools, but I can't believe they won't extend the closure past this week (our spring break is the first week of April anyway, so I figure closing next week is a no-brainer, at least to give them more time).

Video Dr. T in a couple hours. Figure I'll give it another try, see how it goes. If still feels weird and/or sad, could maybe try phone the next time.

We got "lesson plans" from my kid's daycare to continue her education while they are closed. She is still in the baby class, so under "Math" it says "stacking blocks" and under "Social Studies" it says "How do you feel today?"

We mostly send her there for the healthy meals, lack of screentime, and gentle discipline, so the adorably serious playtime lesson plans are just an amusing bonus.

Regular T said that I might be having more paranoia and delusions of late because I am in a more healthy environment emotionally at work, and since I feel safe it is now "safe" for me to have some of these feelings come up, they are. It's just that they are coming out as paranoia and delusions because it's still not safe for me to have these feelings towards my parents and may not be as long as I am living with them. On another note, my workplace handed out N95 particulate respirator masks today. One per person. Odd times we live in when an accountant/HR manager has to have a N95 mask. I also had to join Facebook this weekend because my Sunday morning Church class was held on Facebook live. I have avoided social media for years (besides Linked In) but now I'm a Facebook-er. Sigh. I'm too paranoid for this. And all these friend requests. Good grief!

For Facebook, you could choose to accept friend requests (if you want), then opt to "unfollow" the person, so you won't get updates. Or, you can just decline the friend requests. Your call! I will say I'm in a lot of helpful groups on Facebook for various topics, so I find lots of benefits from it, along with the negatives.
