I have been with my T for two months seeing her twice a week. I don’t know if it is because of the video therapy or her but I just can’t seem to connect with her. There is just something about her personality that irks me. I don’t know if it would be the same way in person but I can’t wait until September to find out. So now I have to go hunting for a new T again. Maybe I can just switch to one at the same practice. Or maybe I am just not cut out for therapy. I had issues with my last T but at least we connected.

I agree with seeing what in-face time would be like. But sometimes we just don't connect with a certain therapist and there's nothing wrong with that. I have left more than one after a decent period of time.
Thanks for this!

It's worth trying out someone new if you don't feel connected. If you still feel the same after trying with another T or two, maybe it is the video therapy. And some T's are better at connecting with clients over video therapy than others. So I agree that, rather than waiting till September, you should try out a new one nowd
Thanks for this!

It’s important to have a good connection with your therapist. It is a relationship, and like every relationship, has to have certain elements there to make it work.

I have had many therapists over the years, and have found it only takes a session or two to know if you can work together. It might help to have some ideas about what you want out of therapy and talk about them in your initial meeting. It is an interview of sorts, and you’re the one doing the hiring.

Seems to me you’ve given this one plenty of time and it isn’t working out. Her personality won’t change in a face to face session.

I agree that it’s important to feel connected to the T. It sounds like you’ve given this T a decent amount of time to establish a connection.

My therapist and I had a strong connection, until we had to do teletherapy. Now our connection seems fake. Not really there.
