So I found a new T I want to try. I googled the see if she had any reviews out there. I clicked a linked that I thought was for her practice but is was actually incorporation information for her practice. I saw her address and it is diagonally across the street from me. She must have at least lived with her parents when she began her practice. I am kind of antisocial so I really never pay attention to my neighbors so I never noticed her. So would it be unethical for her to work with me if she still lives there? She really was one of my best options and looking at her picture I don’t recognize her. So would you still pursue it or find someone else?

If you are comfortable with it I would give it a try. A former T lived less than a mile from me and we went to the same church with no problems. Another T lived diagonal from my church in college, again, no problems. Current T has friends across the street from me. Frankly I never hardly see my neighbors. She will see your address when you fill out the forms so if it is an issue she should bring it up.

I really can't see that it crosses any ethical boundaries. My t lives and works within walking distance from me.

I'd definitely try it. My therapist lives 1 1/2 miles from me; I don't even think much about it.

if you don't think it will be an issue I say go for it. If she recognizes you she will likely say something.

My T lives within a mile of my home when I first began seeing her. We have since moved 10 miles away.
It was never an issue for either of us.
We would mention news about our small town in passing. But we only once ran into each other in about 3 yrs. She actually explained that should that ever happen she wouldnt approach me or speak with me unless I initiated a conversation.
So she was sensitive to feelings around this.
Thanks for this!
