Do you look forward to therapy appointments?
I usually threw up before them and regretted going after I had done so. But that doesn't seem to be a common response.

Note - this is not super serious and your response will not go on your permanent record.

We get super anxious before appointments and sometimes would cancel and come up with an excuse that was a lie or just no show because of the anxiety. Not sure why, we just do.

I have often thought—and sometimes said to them—that it’s like going to the dentist.

I usually look forward to it, but sometimes I'm anxious, though not to the point of canceling or not wanting to go.
Thanks for this!

I put sometimes. I usually look forward to it in my mind, and then get there and my brain goes blank.
Thanks for this!

I hate them. I hate working on trauma and I hate my T much of the time. We are currently in another rupture and once again I am trying to decide if it us time to call it quits.

I look forward to a weekly meeting with someone I care about, and who cares about me. Somewhere I can say anything that’s been on my mind, I get to be curious about my therapist and connect with him. Sometimes it’s awful and I cry a lot, or I feel misunderstood. Then I can spend the next week questioning myself. But I know I’ll still go back to see him, because our relationship is really important to me and I trust him.

I look forward to the time to take stock of my emotional state, and learn how to show myself compassion.

Yes, I see them as self-care. Some people might get a manicure, I treat myself to therapy.

Thanks for humoring some of the Pollyanna types (me) around here this time!
Yes, most of the time I look forward to my time with T. Today I am anxious as I don’t like what we plan on talking about.
Several other T’s though I was anxious and a mess before going and two days after.

I general I do. It is a time for me to explore what is going on on my life and deal with it in a nonjudgmental person. Also she doesn't try to fix things for me. I love my husband dearly but because he sees me in pain his instinct is to try to fix whatever is hurting me.

Also, often T helps me to take my metaphorical bucket that is usually spilling over and dump a bit out so I can continue on with life.

Then there are weeks like this one where I am upset with her and want to skip a week but will not.

I put sometimes. I sometimes look forward to my T appointments if I am having a hard time and I think she might be helpful. But sometimes I am not. When I don't know what to talk about. Or I know what I need to talk about but don't want to go there.

They cause an adrenaline rush for me. When she sends the link I get this sudden weird panic feeling. Then I have to do a ton of deep breathing and “waves come in, waves go out” crap before I click on the link. I guess I look forward to them?
