Is anyone here seeing your therapist in-office at this point? It seems some people on the forum have mentioned being in therapy as though it's not teletherapy.

I'm just curious about how it's going for people. I'm still in teletherapy and will be, I expect, until next summer.

My therapist has just returned to doing video and phone sessions. I do phone; I am not comfortable with using Zoom. At the start of the pandemic, we were only doing virtual or phone sessions. When the state opened up, our case numbers went sky high (and they still are), so we went back to virtual sessions.

On the phone, the sessions don't really seem therapeutic. It seems like we are just chatting. They are not as productive as in the office. But, I am okay with it. I still benefit from them. And I feel safer not leaving my home.

I see mine in person, but only because he said our connection is extra important to me. Or id be having no therapy/teletherapy like the other clients he has.

So it seems that most people here have the option of in person sessions. That's great, you're so lucky. Life just can't seem to normalize here.

I had a few teletherapy sessions with a new T because my insurance offered it for free, but stopped in June. I haven't been back to my former T since January. I probably need to.

For those doing session in person are you both wearing masks? I would rather do teletherapy than trying to talk for an hour in a mask and not being able to read facial cues from the therapist.

Agreed, and I've said similar to my T. Or maybe I'd be willing to try one session masked to see how it goes, but then may want to go back to virtual

No we haven't worn masks. He said I could if I wanted to. He gets tested weekly and I'm really careful who I see.

I’m hoping to get some good news at my next session since she said at the start of September. She hasn’t said but I think she’s choosing not to go back. My state isn’t even doing terribly. She mentioned scheduling me first when she does go back and she said she’ll only be there half a day and that makes me feel a bit bad because it sounds like she’s going to go back just for me. But I haven’t seen her in person since March 16.

No masks, but we sit pretty far apart. Also we don't sit facing each other, we do the couch set up where I lie down and he sits behind and off to the side.

Interesting. Are you doing psychoanalysis?

I see T in person, but I am living in a country that is doing pretty well, covid wise, and everything is back up and running fairly normally.

No masks. She rearranged her office to allow for distancing. But her office still encourages teletherapy. But says the option for in person is between client and clinician.

My T is an analyst but I only go twice a week, not 5x, so I think technically it's psychoanalytic psychotherapy, not analysis. I'm not totally clear what the difference is though.
