I have been with my current T for a couple of years and she's been great. It took me a long long time to start talking and trusting her, and now that we are finally making some progress, I personally don't want to have to start again with someone new and god knows how that will work out.

however I'm moving away to a different county for university, I'll be there for at least four years. that means if I stick with my current T I will need to make a 90 minutes commute for every session and that's 3 hours in total going there, and coming back. it's not very practical. it is possible, but it's time consuming considering I'll have a lot of uni work and at the same time I am planning to go back to training at elite level. with all of that I won't have very much time at all, and my schedules is going to be pushing the limits.

I do very much want to stay with her but I don't know if I can do this for four years.
Thanks for this!

Could you not perhaps alternate between virtual sessions and face to face sessions? Maybe every other session you do virtually? That would mean you don’t have to travel as often but you still get face to face contact regularly and don’t have to start with a new T.
Thanks for this!

Have you tried tele therapy with this therapist yet? I wonder if that's an option?

I wonder if you could do your sessions with her over zoom. Good therapists are hard to find and if you feel comfortable with her maybe you can still see her when you can but also have zoom sessions too. Hugs

thank you for everyone's advice.

we have been having phone/video sessions over this coronavirus period and currently we are still doing that.

I think after months of working this way we both agreed that we don't like this style of working. I find it very distracting, but we don't have a choice at the moment.
