So I'm in an intensive therapy program that I've been in for almost exactly 1.3 years. The program is supposed to be temporary until you're ready to move to something less intensive. For the last month or two, the team has started pushing the idea of closing out services but there's only one issue about this, I'm in the worst place in my life that I've ever been in. That says a lot since I've been through some really rough things.

In the last month alone the SWAT team was called out to our house and one brother was kicked out and another brother was taken to jail on assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest charges. I won't go into details cause I know it'd be triggering for some folks on here about the sheer amount of police force used was horrifying. A few days later my dad out into an almost fatal car accident where his truck flipped off a hill and was totaled. He had to be medi-flighted to the hospital and he's having to try to hope that insurance will take care of the $53'000 dollar bill or he'll be bankrupt. Then a few days later I had to undergo surgery and fell into a post-op depression. Then we found out that my grandparents aren't doing well, my grandpa has lost 50 lbs and my grandma's cognitive health is regressing, we don't think they have much longer.

I've been struggling to cope with this all and my thoughts have not been bright, my mood low, and my eating disorder worse than ever.

Am I really so horrible for not thinking now is the time to cancel my mental health services? I swear, sometimes it seems like the team implies I'm greedy for keeping them so long.

Thank is all just way too much stress for you. Have you told anyone in your mental health care program that you really need it at this time?

That definitely seems like a lot that you have going on. I'm sorry you are going through all of this right now.

Not sure if this will be helpful or not. Trying to look at it from the economic side. Probably they don't really want to let you go. More like their program directors are wondering why because of it being a short term thing. I don't know if you are paying for it or insurance or what but usually with insurance they only want to cover so much. I know I had to be let go from my case manager sooner than I was ready to because it was a short term thing. Even though I hadn't met all my goals yet. It was through my insurance company and they were like, this is just how long it is. So I gotta let you go. Nothing personal. Just business. Sad when mental health care is seen as a business. But everything costs money I guess. HUGS!

I hope you can talk to them and let them know how much you are struggling. I hope that your care team will go to bat for you and help you stay in the program. Do they have a patient advocate? Maybe you could get them involved? Maybe they could find you something more intensive since you are having such a hard time. I don't know if that would be helpful. But it seems like you need more support right now, not less.

Talk here if you want. We are listening. HUGS Kit

Maybe they believe in you and believe you have the skills now to handle it.

They might be able to refere you to someone who can help you. Most programs only offer short term help. Maybe they can make a exception and let you stay. I would hope they wont leave you without resources. Hugs

I don’t think you’re horrible for wanting to cancel them, it really sounds like you’re going through the wringer and I wish I could offer better advice, rather than just a handhold. I’ve long thought healthcare systems where you need insurance can be ghastly to deal with for most people. Really hope your dad’s insurance comes through for him.

My therapist knows things are horrible right now. After our session on Friday afternoon, he called me again on Monday to check up on me and make sure I was safe which I thought was sweet. I've decided I'm going to text him and ask and if can discuss a resolution to this cause it's causing me a lot of stress. I'm hoping we can figure out a middle ground like ending in a couple months on a certain date.
