Are there areas where either you agree to disagree or T gives you advice that you totally disagree with?

I think we do have things where we disagree. From his point of view I am a person with a brain therefore I should be able to do the things a person does? I get why his brain sees it like that, because that's how he is.

But I know my brain did not make all the connections I needed for life. I know I need what I missed out on and I know I can't have it. I feel like a broken hammer trying to fix myself, and he thinks all I need is practice or self care. So I guess I disagree with that, but I still go to therapy because I don't know what else to do.

T thinks it's 'easy' and adopts a Pollyanna-ish attitude.

This lends credence to the fact that unless you don't have the same lived experience you don't, or can't, get it.
Thanks for this!

So far, we haven't disagreed on anything that I recall. We seem to think along the same lines. That's not to say I haven't questioned her. I think when I would have tended to disagree with her, she explains the topic in a different way. Then I can understand what she means, and I have agreed with her so far.

We talk more about how I think or feel about things and what they mean to me, and not so much about whether I am right or wrong. So T doesn't really say whether he agrees with me or not. If I have a fact wrong he will tell me (and vice versa) but we don't debate issues or anything.

One thing, though, is sometimes when I talk about body image etc. he seems to sort of dismiss the idea that culture and media have a big influence on that. So I think maybe he doesn't quite get it, possibly because men don't get the same kinds of pressure on that topic.

My T has a weird view on it too, he seems to think all women want to look like the stereotypical woman. I said wanted breast surgery and he immediately assumed I wanted big boobs, but I really meant I wanted them gone. I don't care about looking like a stereotype at all, I wish he would understand that.

We disagreed about a lot of stuff I had been doing. To the point she recommended a higher level of care because I was being risky and dangerous.
