Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

...I like Fig Newtons! And it's Isaac Newton's birthday.

Thanks una.

I like Fig Newtons too. I'll open a nice fresh pack for the new couch.

Thank you una.

Oops, I posted this on the old couch, not realising a new one had been created.

Apologies for this random question, but does anyone know (or has had experience with) a bruised facial nerve? I had a minor accident three days ago and hit my cheekbone rather hard. Now part of my face on that side is a little numb. Does anyone know how long it takes to go away? I went to the ER and was seen by a doctor, but it was less bad then because it was fresh and less swollen (no fracture though).

I'm sorry, Merope, I don't know. I'm sorry to hear you were injured. Can you do a telehealth appointment just to follow up?

Thank you. I am waiting for a call from my general practitioner, but I think I have spiralled into severe anxiety. I keep reading stuff online and most medical journals that mention damage to the nerve involve fractures, which I don't have, so at least that's good.

Maybe the swelling is just kind of pinching the nerve right now and it'll feel better once the swelling goes down? Glad you're getting it checked out. I usually find that it's much easier to find the worst case scenario stuff online than the things where afterward the person was like, "Oh yeah, that was weird, wasn't it?" (thinking about the horrible weekend during my pregnancy that I spent reading horror stories about my symptoms online only for everything to be totally fine).

We watched Death to 2020 on Netflix last night and loved it. It's a mockumentary about 2020 with Leslie Jones and Kumail Nanjiani, which is basically all I needed to know.

Mornin' couch. I'm struggling a bit with anxiety this morning.... work is already getting to me and January has barely begun. I have to be on the phones all next week, then the following week I have to do chat all week, this week I am doing my 'normal' job working emails from members. I don't like having to know and perform 3 different job functions. I know, I know, I should just be grateful that I have a job. And I am. But the anxiety is getting to me. I'm too old for all of this. And the stupid good girl complex was never conquered completely enough so it's rearing it's ugly head again. I'm stressed because I feel like I have to be perfect at all 3 job functions. I need to slow my brain down and just take one day at a time, one hour at a time if I have to, and just forget about everything else and focus on the job at hand for each week.

It's okay to talk about work problems, despite remembering to be grateful at the same time.

You've already been working so hard and doing a lot of overtime. It's bound to take a toll. It's okay not to be perfect at all your tasks- you're still getting them done and even if it takes more time so be it.

Has L contacted you to arrange your next session?

Pseudo-Latin word I learned today: quisquous. Difficult or perplexing.

Quentin quailed at his quisquous quandary.

Some people dont realize that quisquous is really just tiny pasta, its not a whole grain.

Quentin had quail served over quisquous.

Hi Everyone. I had an uneventful New Year which is how I like them. I got two new tires put on my car this weekend. I watched Hallmark Movies and Mysteries again since they are no longer playing Christmas movies! Yes Aurora Teagarden!

I'm getting a Covid test on Wednesday just to make sure I don't have it. Two people at my workplace have it. But I haven't had contact with either in about a week and I don't have any symptoms yet.

My hallucinations calmed down. Don't know if I should still bring them up to Pdoc on Wednesday when I have my appointment or just let it go. See T on Saturday, assuming I don't have Covid.

See, that was the quandary. Only quislings eat quail over quisquous.

ETA: oh, hey, got my covid saliva test time down to two minutes this morning. If I didn’t insist on reaching the max line on the tube, I could probably hit 75-90 seconds.

Had a glorious day off after who even knows how many night shifts. Woke up next to the BF, went home for an early morning therapy session, napped, went for a walk at a local nature reserve, and took a glorious bath

Nah, and she won't either. We left it as I'm supposed to call her when I'm ready to go back, because I really didn't think I was going to want to until our overtime is done. Of course with this new decree of us having to perform 3 different job functions this month, I don't want to wait until February anymore!! I'll probably text her tomorrow.

I'm also struggling (again) with feeling resentful of h not working for the past 8 months or whatever he's been off. I mean I get it, and I want him to be safe and not get covid, but at the same time it's hard to not feel resentful sometimes when I'm working so much. It helps when he goes out and picks up dinner for us, and does stuff around the house so I don't have to, but.... it still gets to me from time to time.

Is he not pulling his weight in other ways besides work? I mean, I know you said he does stuff around the house, but does he do as much as you do?

I am now watching two live cams one of an albatross nest and one of peregrine falcons.
I love the albatross. The falcons are a little flappier
