Today my therapist and I discussed my relationships mixed in with my obsessions over people. An hour just wasn't enough but that's all you get right. She says next week we are going to talk about Self Worth....

So to you what is Self Worth? I have googled and I think I'm really bad at this. I read a Wikipedia one and it's me to a tee I think.

Any help?

No I only get 50 minutes lol....you are right it’s never enough.

Self worth is just what you think about yourself. If you have low self worth then you might not treat yourself with respect, maybe you would let other people walk all over you and use you, or feel less than other people and constantly compare yourself to them. Things like that.
Thanks for this!

Just my take: what 'value' do you think you have or attribute to yourself? Do you treat yourself well? Do you forgive yourself? Do you have compassion for yourself? As much as you do for others? Do you love yourself? Do you do nice things for yourself? Do you take care of your needs i.e. physical, emotional, physiological e.g. food, sleep etc.? How do you talk to yourself (inner self-talk)?
Thanks for this!

Thanks guys, yeah just what I thought I'm not great at those things. Great with everyone else just not me unfortunately. I felt good when I got off the phone to my therapist but since about 4 hours ago I'm a little upset. Maybe it's thinking how lousy I am at doing self worth is causing me grief huh

I think that's a good indication of low self worth. I understand the feeling though. If you are great with everyone else, it can help to think of yourself as your own best friend. Treat yourself how you would treat them. Would you tell them negative things about themselves or build them up and encourage them? If your friend was feeling lousy after a therapist appointment, what would you say to try and help or support them? Say or write or just think these things to yourself.

You are worth it and it is possible to feel worthy of love and support... with practice and time... I know you can do it
Thanks for this!
