I emailed new T asking if he had any cancellations for the rest of this week. He replied back super quick saying he had something free for monday, but It's two days before my exam. I have done a session before an exam that really left me dissociated afterwards so I don't want to risk it.

The reply back is actually all I needed.

We were talking about needs, before but how do you actually meet some of them yourself?

I need to be seen.
I need to heard.
Touch & care = I used to get by going to the massage place. but that's been closed for almost a year now.

I'm dealing with a lot at work and a lot in my personal life and with relationships with others (friends). I'm exhausted and overwhelmed.


I find talking to T nice and soothing but not necessarily helpful. My appointment with Dr. K (new guy) is April 26th too far away to actually be of any use.

Had a difficult interaction with the BF this morning. Emailed T about the sh***y thing he said to me on Monday (I put it in "Dear T" if anyone's interested). I have class this evening (via Zoom) and I want to skip it.

I feel really really bad, y'all.

Do you honestly think you would you get annoyed at a patient coming with a cardiac issue? Maybe you've gone as far as you can with this T.

Hi Lemoncake,

I've been thinking about the needs and how you could take care of some of them yourself. I don't know if you do affirmations but you could look in the mirror (be seen) and say your affirmations out loud (be heard). For the touch ones, you could use anointing oil (you can get it on Amazon) or nice lotions and just get a nice shower or bath and then use the soothing lotion or oil on your skin. I don't know if that helps. Just some ideas. I struggle with some of the same things btw!

If you don't find it helpful you don't have to go. Maybe you could try to email around and see if there's anyone else who could see you sooner?

Thank youuuu. The mirror stuff is also what Louise Hay recommend in the book "you can heal your life". I did actually start doing it but like always stopped. Might sound woo but a lot of my self hatred has actually vanished because I just tell myself "it's a thought and thoughts can be changed" .

I also found an older Lush massage bar which I forgot I had.

This is a really good comparison, about getting annoyed with a patient needing cardiac care. And then being annoyed if they had to come in for a follow-up.

Today has been Hard, and not necessarily in the way I expected. I had plans to combat these feelings, and then they charged.


I also received an email about a prospective work opportunity, but the meeting would be half an hour after my scheduled appointment time with R, which wouldn't leave me much time to decompress before having to compose myself.

If she has availability, there is nothing wrong with asking to bring the session forward, is there?

Absolutely nothing wrong with asking to move the session, Lost. Depending on how you feel and your stability level, and how exciting you find this prospective opportunity, it could also be okay to skip the therapist appointment just this one time. YMMV, of course. Therapy is there to help us function better in life, not to replace life.

Just got out of an emergency department leadership meeting chiding German chair called to address the fact that we have a faculty member who is attacking graduate students on his social media accounts. By name.

He's been doing this for years--no one noticed because he had like 5 followers. But one of them also knew the current victim, who reported him to us. (He is not wrong in his criticism of this person, but he is way out of line to do it publicly.)

There was a lot of yelling, and misogyny on his part towards the grad student and me and chiding German chair. Fun.
