Hi,
Do any of your T's in the UK work Bank Holidays? My T is insistent that she is working on both May Bank Holiday Mondays which is when one of my twice weekly appointments fall but I feel incredibly uncomfortable, naughty and bad taking up her time on Bank Holidays. For me, I can still attend both my appointments on the Bank Holidays. Nothing on, just a normal day for me, but I feel bad, naughty and wrong bothering her on Bank Holidays. To me it seems unforgivable and not acceptable of me to do that. I want to give my therapist the rest and break. I know she has children and a partner, so I'd rather she wasn't worrying about me on those days. Do any of your T's in the UK work on Bank Holidays and if so, do you allow yourselves to see them on those days? I'm really struggling with this!!!! Thanks! ![]() |

In the U.S., we call them government holidays, and my therapists worked most of those except perhaps the ones around the more religious holidays like Christmas and Easter. But Columbus Day or President's Day and the like weren't really days they would take off. In fact, most businesses and many schools go on as usual on many of the government holidays here.

I am in the u.s. but one of the women I hired worked on the 4th of july (a holiday here) and labor day and memorial day -all federal holidays. I let the therapist take care of themselves. Not my job to tell them when they can and cannot take money from people willing to hand it to them.

My T works bank holidays usually, unless he's away that week.
They are really just paid days off for people that work 'normal' office jobs. Self employed people don't get paid for being off on bank holidays, so most self employed people I know still work on them. |

If you don't want to see her on bank holidays then don't arrange a session for those days, attendance isn't compulsory. If you want to attend, allow her to manage her own diary and take responsibility for her working pattern. Your responsibility is to take care of your needs.

Same here. It's your therapist's choice to work on those days; no need to feel guilty about seeing her on them. |

It's not about allowing ourselves to go. If your T is working on those days, it means that they have chosen, of their own free will, to do so. In all probability, they would see other clients too.
Why feel you are imposing when they made the choice to (want to) see clients. |

My T did last year, but not the two years before.
