My mom is listed as my emergency contact person. My therapist used that excuse to talk to her yesterday. Even though it wasn’t an emergency.

If she thought you were in danger and wanted to make sure you're safe, and your mom is your emergency contact, then she did nothing wrong. Just because you aren't worried about something doesn't mean she's not.

If she feels you are overusing and/or abusing medications with the potential to cause you harm, that is a legitimate use of your mother as an emergency contact.

If you do not want your mother as an emergency contact, you can revoke that permission. (You do seem to fairly regularly abuse your meds though from what I remember reading your posts - perhaps this is a valid concern that you need to address in therapy.)

But OP wasn't in danger? Even if the use of meds had been dangerous (doesn't really sound like it was--Benadryl and melatonin?) that danger was past. It's not an emergency and the fact that it took a couple days for the T to actually call shows she didn't feel it was an emergency.

Personally I'd put it in writing that T does not have permission to call your mom except under certain circumstances and specify what those are.

I agree. The T should have called sooner if she thought the OP was in danger. But even the OP thought the police would be called, so I assume they thought they were in danger as well.

That's what keeps coming to my mind. The OP kept talking about thinking the police were going to be called, so even the OP appears to think this use of meds was at least done in a way that was probably not aligned with safe use of medications.

But again, take mom off the emergency list if this is something that you don't want to happen anymore. Easy fix.

I didn’t think I was in danger. It’s melatonin and a Benadryl. I’ve done it tons of times. The therapist wouldn’t tell me anything. I just assumed she thought I was in danger. This therapist has poor communication skills and wouldn’t tell me what she would or wouldn’t do when I mentioned the police. When I told her not to call them she just stared at me.

She loves the police so I figured out later I probably just offended her with my very different opinion.

It doesn't matter that you have done it several times, you said:

and that I guess is what concerns her - you aren't using meds properly, and are taking very high doses of over-the-counter meds in addition to your prescription meds.
As for the police, you seem hung up on the fact that she 'loves' police which is why she didn't respond to you, but equally it could be that misusing your meds is not a police matter - it is something she has already said you need to discuss with your doctor...
