I had a gathering planned and one to go to, but both got covid canceled. The one to go to had too many of us sick so it got canceled, and mine got cancelled today when I came down with cold symptoms and no body wanted to risk it. There are no take home kits available that we can find so going on the assumption better safe than sorry although this is probably just my usual winter sinus infection. So another person that I have been around all week so if I have it she has aready been exposed, at dinner and had baked quince for dessert - it was quite tasty

I like quince best in real Greek yogurt (real is not the version one finds on US grocery shelves unless it’s plain Fage) with honey.

This was the first time I have had quince as far as I know. I cored it, stuffed walnuts, honey, dried cherries and butter in it and baked it. We both loved it.

Survived Christmas. Well, I mean, I guess technically another 2 hours, but still. Went mostly OK at my parents' until my D had a meltdown at the end, presumably due to being wiped out, yet she didn't want to leave.

Wish I was talking to T tomorrow or Monday instead of Tuesday. Just been a really stressful few days. But I'll manage.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and happy Saturday to those who don't.

Quince is very popular here. It's most often made into jam and put on bread with butter.

I'm sitting here watching it snow. It's lovely and peaceful. Fluffy cat is keeping me company.

My daughter was supposed to bring her littles over for Christmas. They all got colds so we decided it would be best if they stayed home to rest. I delivered Christmas dinner and their gifts to their doorsteps. We were remarking that in the before times, they'd have just come over anyway and we'd all have ended up with colds a few days after Christmas. We had a lovely celebration here anyway.

Wow- big fat flakes coming down now. Sitting and watching the snow is actually really nice. It's gorgeous out there. I went straight from trying to wrap up school right into Christmas. Now I feel like I could just sit on the couch and look out the window for days. Is post-graduation letdown a thing, I wonder? Probably.

I love when it snows. Unfortunately, the last time we had snow around Christmas was over 10 years ago... this time there was some pretty early on in December, but now it's warm again, it's raining and will be 14 degrees Celsius (57.2 F) in a few days. Kind of not what you picture a mountain country to be like.

It's been rainy here the last couple days, including this morning earlier. We don't usually see any snow down here until like January or so. It was supposed to snow up in the mountains though, don't know if it stuck or not.

I think it's a reddish board in the fence. The phone camera kind of exaggerates the reds. I wish we had cardinals here!

I work for a huge organization and almost all of our high level managers are now out with COVID. They brought in managers from another location to help us out. I feel fine now but I swear this will mess with my head and cause me to think up symptoms. I've been around most of them. You'd think they would shut us down for a few days but nooooo.......that costs $$

My son just texted and said he tested positive for COVID. He didn't have any symptoms yesterday when he was here, his symptoms started this morning his gf too. She tested negative. I guess I should get a couple of home tests for h and I since we were together for awhile yesterday.

UGH Artie - so sorry. I've heard you should test 5 days after exposure. I'm going to test in a couple of days myself (since I was around some of our sick managers on Wednesday).

Hugs, Artie, hope your son and his GF's symptoms are mild. And that you and H don't catch it. I've heard the same about waiting 5 days to test, but also that omicron can move faster, so possibly a bit earlier.

Thanks Polibeth. I'm sorry you were exposed too. Yeah, I just called the nurse line through my health insurance and she told me the same thing, to wait for 5 days before we test. She also said per CDC guidelines since we're both vaxxed/boosted we don't have to quarantine unless we have symptoms, but we should wear masks of course if we go out for 14 days. I work at home so it's no biggie for me, h is a courier so he's out & about every day but he wears a mask most places anyway.

My son and I had traveled 500 miles to spend the week with my sister and my dad who is in hospice. About mile 400, my sister texted me that she had just found out that she had been exposed. We ended up spending the night in a hotel and returning home the next day -- basically 1000 miles driving in two days. Just wasn't worth the risk. Don't think my sister was all too happy with me (she ended up testing negative so far), but she'll just have to learn to live with disappointment. Covid needs to leave me the heck alone -- it's done enough damage to my life.

I just claimed disqualification for jury service due to COVID. I was to report Jan. 3, and I had actually accepted and fully intended to report -- several weeks ago before Omicron hit -- but I am not at all comfortable reporting right now. Not with my asthma issues. Not in a room with hundreds of other people who I honestly do not trust to have gotten vaccinated, etc. And I definitely don't trust our county court system to maintain safety protocols -- rather big anti-vaxxer county government leadership that refused to uphold any COVID protocols.

Jury duty right now sounds like a big super-spreader event in the making. No thank you.

Thanks, LT. He said they both feel like they have a minor sinus infection, that just came on since they woke up this morning so time will tell if they feel worse. They both felt fine when they were here yesterday. He just texted and asked me to bring them a couple more home tests, so I'll go out tomorrow on my lunch break and see if I can find some for them and for us too. He said he had to go to several CVS's to find the ones they used today.
