With my old t they were 30 minutes and when I actually wanted to talk to her that seemed too short. I think with my new t it's going to be 30 minutes still but I'm going to ask if they offer hour long sessions.

Out of curiosity, is your T a psychiatrist? They often do 30-minute sessions. I'm not under the impression that most T's regularly do 30-minute sessions, though mine does offer it as an option. I have done that a few times if I wanted an extra session, but I tended to find it to be too short. My regular sessions are 50 minutes, with this T and ex-T.

My single sessions are supposed to be 45mins. Sometimes they are, usually they go as long as an hour.

I'm fortunate to have hour-long sessions with R.

30 minutes is a short time... sometimes, it can take that long to just open up. I would struggle with that. But yes, anyway, best ask if they could extend it.

Mine are like 55 minutes with both of my therapists. Thirty minutes would usually not be enough time for me to get into what I wanted to talk about.

An hour. I had 50 minutes with previous T's and it never felt long enough. The extra ten minutes makes a big difference to me.

Mine were 60 minutes for the most part, except during a stretch where we did 30 minute sessions for 1/2 her hourly rate (at my request), and except for a few here and there that ran over the 60 minutes because neither of us were paying attention to the time and were both really into whatever we were talking about.

Usually between 40 and 50 minutes. It's never just "time's up", it's more of a natural ending. I have had one session go for 1 hour 30 minutes, and is has also happened once or twice that we finished after around 30 minutes.

I did ask her one time if she would consider 90 minute sessions on occasion. She said she'd have to think about it so I just took that as a "no" and never bothered to bring it up again.

Mine are 50 minutes. It seems like a good length to me. More would overwhelm me, much less would be too little. 5 minutes less would be ok, too.

My normal appointment is supposed to be an hour. I can count in one hand how often it has lasted one hour. Normally it goes for anywhere between 70 to 80 minutes. When it needs to be an hour it is because on of us has something we need to do after and talk about it at the beginning of the session. I am her last appointment of the day so have flexibility.

Recently I started a second appointment of the week which is early in the morning so it lasts between 55 and 60 minutes. She has an appointment after so make sure not to run late.

I thought mine were an hour then she started seeing someone before me and was being late and not making up the extra time she spent on that client with me. When I brought it up the second time she said our sessions were actually 45 minutes long but did not realize she was being late. Finally after being late again a 3rd time yesterday she apolgolized and moved my appointments up 15 minutes so I can get the full 45 minutes.

With my new T it's going to be "an hour" which probably means 50-55 minutes.

I'm not sure how I would get anything done in 45 minutes. It takes about 20 for me to even feel remotely like I am present in the room and planning on staying!!

It' 50min by regulation in my country, so if any therapist does more, it's either on them or perhaps it's okay if you pay for it privately.
