I met my therapist in 2019 and saw her in the office at the mental health clinic until April 2021. We did some phone sessions at the start of the pandemic and then we wore masks to continue on.

Last fall she was laid off without pay because at that time the clinic had a vaccine mandate. At that time she asked me to follow her to private. I thought it would be okay to go I thought the boundaries where there.

We ended up texting each other therapy strictly until she came back to the office in April. The mandate was lifted. However she choose to work from home.

June of this year her boss told her that working from home would cause undue hardship. So she is still working from home it's been very stressful and this week she has a choice to make. The clinic still requires everyone to wear a mask.

Last week I found she had made a comment in a group on facebook about her job being at risk and she called me on Wednesday to have a session. It was very confusing for me and all weekend im feeling lost.

I do not know what to think I really liked my therapist and now im very angry that this whole situation has interfered with my therapy in away I can't function most of the time. I sure do nott want to be hurt again

I empathize with you. Chaos about therapy sessions is distracting and unfulfilling. Can you ask her directly what she intends to do and how you two can continue to meet?

I did therapy with both my T and I wearing masks and it was ok. A little getting used to but I was so glad to see her in person again. I don't know and not judging at all about the mask requirement, just sharing my experience.
Thanks for this!

Personally, I prefer video therapy without masks. But I know if I didn't live alone, I would find privacy difficult.

I don't mind wearing the masks. She might no longer have a job this week because they wont allow her to keep working from home. She has a mask exemption and the clinic will not accept her exemption letter from 2 doctors.

That's too bad they won't let her keep working from home. A lot of therapists in the US still do that.

I'm sorry that you're dealing with all the uncertainty. Is it possible she could go private again and you could meet with her virtually that way?
Thanks for this!

We would be meeting face to face if she did go privatly. She also says it would be allot easier for her because she could see me weekly in stead of every two weeks. The clinic does not allow weekly sessions except in emergency. It's been stressful. She has been so helpful for me. I have made so much progress with her help.

I'm really sorry about how long the uncertainty has gone on and how it has affected you.

It sounds like private face-to-face would be best for you, but you are waiting on her to decide--or her clinic to decide for her. Would things be okay again for you if her situation were to be clarified this week?
Thanks for this!

I think she is waiting for the clinic to decide. They had to hire a manager and she starts tomorrow. So for a few months my therapist has been stressed to see if they will allow her to work from home until the mask mandate is gone. I think it's going to stay in place as the mental health is apart of the health care system here where I live. They do not accept mask exemptions. I hope this week I know when she finds out if she has a job or not hopefully things will be good again.
