For content what been happening.
I would forget things and don't even recalled it until I face it. For example I forgot to take my meds yesturday and only clicked I forgot them when I open the container of my meds seeing Friday wasn't empty but still had my meds in them. Or if I was going to take the rubbish out, I left the rubbish bag toe up in the rubbish bin. And only realised this when I came back after walking my dog. Once I left the car keys outside the car door. I only notice this when I got back to my car at the car park and saw my keys outside the car door. Luckily no one took off with my car. Other examples would be I was driving past this cafe. The cafe was where my friend and I used to meet up a lot for catch up and art class we did together. Until I pulled out because I ended up doing everything! and it was fine when I pulled out but then they suddenly ghost me.The image I had was of me sitting outside the cafe with my I guess now ex friend and her telling me to draw the character for that week's art class. I instantly had body sensations which were the tight throat/mouth on the left hand side. I couldn't do anything because I was driving. I drove to the pet shop because I was going to wash my dog at the dog shower the pet shop provide and dog food. When I finished what I needed to be done at the pet shop and walked to my car. I put dog food in the back seat and notice two bags not three. I thought maybe I forgot and it's the EMDR side effect? So I walked back to the shop and asked the retail assistant if I bought the 3 bags? They said yes. So I went back to the car and found the third bag of dog food on the bonnet of my car. Second one was and it's the same day. It was around 5ish in the afternoon. I decided to walk my dog, I went to open the car because I left my dog's leash in the car. I found the 3 food dog bags and I left them in the car by accident. I told my fiance ,he wasn't angry but seemed concerned and said how the meat infused together because the meat is cut into cubes. So it will be hard to...ah...give it to our dog. Anyone else experience this? If so how did you cope? my therapist told me to do mindfullness and grounding skills. I dont know if that would even help? |

Not familiar with EMDR, but grounding can help spaciness after an energy healing like Reiki. Did your therapist explain how to do this (I hope)?

Yeah she hasn't told me how to ground myself. Like she has told me some skills in the past I have forgotten. She did gave me mindfullness practice called light stream and putting the memories into a container and you visualized that in your mind.. I know to calm myself down if I'm emotionally distressed is to have a mint and cold water etc. |

Is this a recent development, being more forgetful, or has it been more of a lifelong thing? If it's been going on for a long time, you may want to consider getting screened for ADHD. This sounds similar to an executive functioning issue, which can be part of that. If this is a fairly recent development, I'd see your (regular) doctor for a full medical workup to make sure nothing is going on that could be causing it. It may just be that you're under a lot of stress or something like that, but I'd want to make sure there's nothing else going on.
As for EMDR, based on what I know about that, I'm not sure how it would help with memory issues. Unless it's a case where you're dealing with lots of trauma that is taking over your brain space where you can't focus on other things. I'd ask your therapist more about that. |

Based on my personal experience and diagnosis I would say you may have DID and EMDR triggered some of your parts. I would be sure to tell your therapist about the lost time episodes.
