Every decent person wants the world to be a better place for all of us people. It's divisive to imply that people with gender critical views which prioritise women want trans people to suffer. This "with or against, for or opposed" partisanship is exactly the problem I was describing. Every single radical feminist or gender critical activist I know has been involved in the fight for racial equality, campaigned against homophohic policies, worked in women's centres, rape crisis services, mental health projects, brought up families, cared about humanity and social justice. AND I care that I can attend a CSA support group without male bodies in the room and that my smear test is carried out by a female nurse and that my elderly partner will be on a single sex ward at her most vulnerable and ill. I don't watch many movies and I generally just don't register much about them even when I read the nyt or other stuff. I will probably still be alive when it comes to some off rate channel I get and I can play it quietly in the background so the dogs will sleep - that is how I watch most things that aren't christopher guest or monty python (although that ship sailed so no new ones that I have to make sure I don't miss)

I knew about oppenheimer because there is also an opera and I thought that was what they were talking about and I was surprised that so many people were excited about some new production of it. Then I found out that was a move too

But youtube shows us many people dont even know what country the queen of england was from, or how long a quarter of an hour is, or how many dimes in a dollar, so i dont have much faith in the usa's abilities of critical thinking, when just regular thinking is beyond their ken!

So thankful for my Sunday evening coda (codependents anon) meeting. I just wish I wasn't such a dweeb when I share!!

Oh well. It was honestly me tonight, so I guess I can't ask for more than that! I think the most helpful thing about the meetings for me right now anyway, is the sense of belonging that I feel there, that I'm not some 'lone codependent ranger' or whatever; I feel accepted even when I babble incoherently. (Well it wasn't quite that bad but almost.) Even so, it's still hard for me to let myself be so totally seen when I share.

Working this program for reals this time since May is making a positive difference in my marriage, and I'm grateful for that.

I think you’re being too harsh on yourself Art. Don’t think the others would think you were being a dweeb at all. Feeling supported and heard is the most important aspect. Glad you found a good group.
