Thanks LT. I should have known better. Benadryl and NyQuil do that so I’m not surprised it happened with the Musinex. I thought it had a different ingredient than the others.

1. good lord

2. about colds - I have recently been with 7 people who originally thought it was just summer colds (I went camping and 4 tested and since I got back - my partner has tested positive and 2 other unrelated people) who thought they had colds but it was covid - if that matters to you.

So i wonder if for the past 100 years, whenever we got a cold, it was really the Spanish flu lingering on?

The influenca (flu) virus has adapted for the last 100 plus years, if you get the flu today, you get a genetic variation of the spanish flu. However, different viruses have different impacts on your body. A cold is not like a flu is not like pneumonia and so on.

Edit: covid is scary because it is like SARS, it has lots of nasty side effects.

I feel like people have wiped covid from their mind somewhat. I get it, but if you are ill with it, there is a non-diminishing chance of it going to be a bad illness burdening you for life. Kind of weird to me how society treats it.

Thanks CNS!

But you are the antidote for all!

Now i want to learn more.

DUDES!!! I JUST SAW THIS ON MEDPAGETODAY.COM

Fauci: It is entirely conceivable that what we call the common cold coronaviruses now, eons ago came out in a pandemic form and did a lot more damage than the seasonal kind of common cold coronaviruses did.

Dont doubt the luna.

ETA - ok, way prehistoric pandemic are current colds, is what he said.

So isnt it interestjng that current dinosaur ie chicken soup is the antidote for an ancient illness?

I drink a lot of herbal teas which work great for me. Now I'm battling insomnia. Anything with whatever benefryl has in it which is most sleep aids make me hyper. I drink herbal teas I meditate . I have this app called better sleep but not a lot of change.

Agreed. A U.S. runner competed in a race in the Olympics 2 days after he tested positive. He collapsed at the end and needed some help. He seemed proud that he still got bronze (he was favored for gold), but all I could think was how selfish he was. He was hugging and up close to other athletes there. Had a mask on later, but still. They had no Covid protocols for the Paris games, which just seemed wrong.

My H had it a couple months ago. I was a bit ill then, but never tested positive (it took him about 5 days after he first started feeling ill to test positive, too). So unsure if I possibly had it? (I had it in May 2023, but managed to keep H and D from getting it via masking, isolation, and air purifiers/open windows).

I feel we have to be careful because my mother-in-law has multiple conditions that put her at high-risk, and she tends to watch my D once a week.

Hope it's not Covid, Jersey!
Thanks for this!

L had it last week. We had to miss our in-person. I'm surprised I didn't get it because I gave her a hug the day before she tested positive.

I mean, humanoids have been making raptor noodle soup for colds since the dawn of fire. Yet Sheldon Cooper needed a reminder to offer a warm beverage? A hole in the evolutionary layer.

Thanks LT,

I've been keeping an eye on the cathedral website to see whether there would be a WSPD service this year.

They are, but it's the weekend after...and I don't return to in person with R until WSPD itself, by which point it will be too late to have a conversation about it.

I only know about WSPD because of Steve, and now he's gone, it takes on a whole new resonance. Given my new understanding, I don't think I'm in any state to go...

It really effing sucks that with R working virtually over the summer, I feel like I need three times as much support to feel supported at my usual level, if that makes sense.

Hugs, Lost. That does make sense.

Sounds like maybe it's best for you to skip the event this year? I'm sorry for how the timing has worked out.

Yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards too...

I think this change to therapy has highlighted the fact that I've always needed more support, I just haven't felt able to ask for it....now I'm in a position where I have to or else I will have a hard time for no reason.

That's part of what I spoke with my helpline contact about as well.

I'm so bloody tired at the moment.

Hugs, Lost. It's good you're able to ask for help, though I wish it wasn't at a time when you felt you had no other option.
