The gyn (and the article) explained, its microscopic pieces of endometrium tissue touching teeny tiny nerves. The point is to put some distance between them. I was like, teeny tiny shyte causing feelings this big? She was like, yeah, specks.

Couch Workout Club day 66

The weather put paid to my Sunday walk, so I did some yoga instead.

Seriously! She was like, they are not supposed to be there (the pieces of endometrium). And they are in there touching nerves. Think of a tooth nerve (thats my idea, just now). Honestly, i was in a cold sweat all the time from it. I dont usually do pain, ya know? I almost couldnt eat, it was that bad

Your funny!

Can be from other things, too--my sister-in-law got it, but she doesn't drink (like at all). She has various other health issues though. Not sure they ever figured out what caused it? She had to be on a liquid diet for a while.

Dude - in my case it wasn't. I don't drink much at all - long before the pancreatitis I had given up much alcohol because it wrecks my sleep and makes my hands and feet itch (for that matter I don't eat much bread or chocolate either - they make me feel bad). I probably don't drink more than 6-7 times a year and then I only have 1 drink - it is like I am allergic to alcohol if I try to have even 2 beers let alone 2 scotches- I can't drink wine at all any more.

I have only had it once and it was terrible. I wouldn't want to get it chronically.

Oh, my bad! I thought that was why you were always sneaking off to the library instead of cuddling up on the Couch.

That was pretty much my tolerance also, until it became completely intolerable.

If that’s the choice—solitude or cuddling—I’ll be in the library too.

Yes. I don't believe a diminished desire to cuddle acquaintances equates to alcoholism.

On Saturday, we're running an in-person version of the murder mystery workshop we've previously run over Zoom for our teen creative writing students.

This touches a nerve for me, given that there's overlap in the focus on how the victim was found.

I mentioned to my mother this afternoon that my contact at the helpline had offered some support with this by way of a guide to nervous system states and self-regulation.

'Is that in case there's something you don't like?'

Well, yes...but it runs far deeper than that.

Is it worth trying to explain the impact?

The good thing about hanging out in the library together is that we will hardly speak. Heaven.

“SD, please pass the scotch.”
*SD passes scotch*
“Thank you.”
*silence for the next 39 hours*

Couch Workout Club day 69

I did a 10 minute yoga session today.

(They call it a 'flow', but for me...it doesn't.)

Last night I dreamed that I went to lunch in Phoenix with some coworkers. In the dream our food was brought to the table, I watched the waiter set down my chicken in front of me, but then I dissociated or something for some reason and the next thing I knew, all my coworkers were gone, the table was gone, and there were strangers sitting there where my coworkers had been. I didn't know what happened or how I was going to get home. I got up and began wandering around trying to figure out what happened.

It was a surreal dream and I was happy to wake up!
