I was thinking this in session today....I literally wear the same 3 outfits every session. They are my comfort clothes.. how embarrassing. Just for fun --- What do you wear to T?

T probably thinks " get some new clothes!"

I am a very fashion conscious person. I like to think I have my own style. I absolutely adore shopping and putting together outfits and accessories and putting on makeup. It's an art form to me. I own upwards of 50 pairs of shoes.

I must admit that I have gone out and bought new clothes specifically to wear to thearpy, lol. Finally after two and a half years, T has begun to tell me, "You look nice." He has said, "I like your shoes," and refers especially to the gold flats or the patent leather pink heels, lol.

I often go to therapy straight from work so on those days I am extra dressed up anyway because of work. On the days that I don't have work I wear what is casual to me-- which might not be considered casual to someone else.

A lot of the effort that I put into looking good when going to therapy probably does have to do with erotic transference issues and having this desire that he will find me attractive, but all in all, I normally put in a good effort in appearance no matter where I'm going. I believe that you have to get dressed everyday, so why not make it fun? I don't even own a pair of sneakers.

I heard she likes the blue collar types.... Next week go for a little more grease under the fingernails and I think you'll be able to reel her in.

I used to dress up for my old T, I guess I spent a lot of time looking just right, so he would fall in love with me, which he did, but it wasn't probably the clothes. But boy do I regret all the time I spent getting ready for my appointment.

But now for therapy with my new T, I wear what is comfortable, usually no makeup and sometime I shower the night before. I just cry the makeup off anyway. But this time I am spending time on ME healing, being myself and I don't waste time trying to look good for my T. No need for masks for this old geezer. lol

But you know since I fired my last T, I sure have a lot more time to work on the important stuff and I am making a lot more progress on myself since I am not obsessing over my old T. Thank goodness I am over that emotional roller coaster. I think in a way that obsession was a way of avoiding the real stuff in therapy. But now I show up in whatever I feel like at the time, so I am comfortable, but I have no need to impress my new T.

I wear things that are comfortable but I try and make sure I don't look fat, lol. I'm my heaviest weight ever right now, which isn't too bad. But I don't want my T telling me I just need to excercise or something, LOL.

I wear whatever I wear to work, which is nothing special. The only thing I wear especially for therapy is certain shoes. Since when we do EMDR, I like to put the little pulsing thingies under my feet, I always wear clogs to therapy. That makes it easy to stick the pulsers in.

I either look nice/decent with jeans and makeup or i wear sweats with my hair in a pony tail and glasses. on those days T questions if i went to school or if i had a rough week, ha. I find that if i'm particularly depressed ill dress down just to "show" im feeling blah. And when i'm feeling alright or happy even? i'll make an attempt to look nice.

riptide, i love your posts and questions. they are all things i've thought about but i never thought about asking!

LOL Gracie!

I thought about wearing my PJ's when I had a very early morning appointment once. LOL Well at least you were comfortable, and if you are like me, I need a nap after a stressful therapy session anyway. Just for fun --- What do you wear to T?

It depends on what I am doing before and after. If I am just doing therapy that day its usually my exercise pants and a tshirt, if its work then therapy then I wear nicer clothes sometimes its just jeans and a tshirt and flip flops. At my old T I wore my jammie pants once and he asked if I was in my pajamas and I said ya you got a problem with that? He didn't he just was curious as to why I didnt get dressed that day.

Im a stay at home mom, so I pretty much where the same thing day in or out.
Although, I do have to say I am one of those ladies that will not go out of the house without my makeup on...lol. (I blame that on my mom who still will not leave the house until she has her hair and makeup perfect, jeez!)

Just for fun --- What do you wear to T?

I usually go in my work clothes, so professional dress. However next week I may need to wear my sweats since I might be diving under her desk. :-)

i actually do also fall into the habit of my comfy clothes (if not working) so i have to stop myself from wearing the same house skirt all the time. Well, i think of it as that, but i get the most compliments on it. weird. anyway, i can curl up in it and get my feet warm while on t's couch. lol
sometimes i feel bad looking too dressy because i'm not paying anything since i really don't have it... i feel like if the office sees me in my leather jacket and heels they'll think "hey, she isn't really so hard up on her luck - make her pay in full!!"

lol mckell!!!

Just my regular clothes.

If I go straight from school, then it's probably jeans, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt, sometimes a little dressier because I try to look nice sometimes.

If it's on a vacation day, or a day when I go home first, there's a good chance that I'll go in sweats.

I've wanted to curl up in a little ball in the corner of the ugly couch a few times. This is how I work at home and watch TV. I just can bring myself to slip off the shoes and put my feet up. I aways keep the shoes on an feet off the furniture.

Do you think it is impolite to put clean sock feet up on someone's office couch? Am I being a ridged freak or just assuming I need to be adherent to standard office etiquette?
