T has been finishing up a new certification in somatic psychotherapy. It's a therapy rooted in the mind/body connection.

Did you ever play the game Whack a Mole at a fair or carnival? Well, yesterday I used a small padded bat and whacked a padded table in T's office. It was an amazing experience because on the second go round I actually felt the energy move up through my body. I was moving some of the anger I held toward him from our rupture last week.

T believes that there is also energy stuck in my body from when I was a young teen and it is she who cuts. It's an interesting theory and I believe he is right.

When I finished whacking, I stretched out by bending over and sort of hanging my arms and head down while I was standing as if you were going to touch your toes. Then I sat down and we began to talk about some trauma I experienced when I was 12/13/14. We tried to reach that part of me but I told T she was mute. He asked if I wanted to draw it and I said yes so he gave me a large pad and a box of colored pencils. I wound up drawing a diagram of the apartment my family lived in during that time. Then I was able to talk through some of the stuff. It was a truly amazing session.

OMG I love my T.

wow.. how do you fit all that in? i have to admit that i dont understand the theory he's using, so im not sure what to say.. other than that if it feels right to you and to him then go for it.

im so happy that the session was so productive for you

That reminds me of when I was 10 and my cousin was 8... We went to the amusement part with my mom, aunt, and uncle... and my uncle was videotaping and making commentary the whole time. My cousin and I were playing "Whack-a-Mole" and the whole time on the tape, my uncle kept referring to it as "Crack-a-Mole" b/c that's what he thought it was called.

Anyway.

I think that your T is amazing and I love that he is thinking outside of the box to help you work through your anger and trauma. I also admire you for taking those risks along with him.

Whack a mole or crack a mole who cares?

I think the mind-body connection is a vital part of my healing. In fact, last weekend when I was taking a yoga class I realized that my anxiety was awful during the resting, meditative part of the session and I felt good only during the portion of the class when I was actively moving my body. i told T this and that is when he suggested the whack a mole exercise. (MY term, not his...) I can't remember what he called it.

T has a tremendous amount of psychotherapy, and analytical training. This somatic psychotherapy training he has been doing is just one more tool. I do believe that getting in touch with the "stuck" energy in my body will be useful for me.

Next week, we are going to shoot the water in the clown's mouth. (Oh, he's the clown, not me......)
