Just had first of 2 NYC appts with my old old T to help address termination with old t. A double session.

He's so much smarter than the other T's I've known. And he's a warm person. I wish I coulda kept seeing him, but I had to move away.

See him again Tues morning.

It was great, but he's trying to focus on bigger personal issues of mine than just the termination, surprise, surprise finding a connection between my mother's death and termination by my female T. He has a great, insightful point, but I have a real need to address the feelings relating to the termination itslef. Felt like I wasted a lot of time talking about stupid stuff. Fly across US just for a few therapy sessions and waste time talking about non-important stuff.

Feeling a tiny bit better now; have been on edge for weeks now.

Your old T sounds very kind.

I hope that these appointments help you to get the closure that you are looking for...

i had been wondering how you were going, imapatient.

i'm glad to know this T is helpful. maybe if you feel like you are wasting time on "non-essential" items, you could write down a list of things you would like to cover? and then at the beginning of your next appt, just say "i have 3 issues i wanted to discuss today, could you help me make sure we cover them all"?

might help you and your T keep more focussed. i am sure that the stuff he talks about when you are 'wandering' is useful also, but when therapy is time limited, it's important that the essential bits get dealt with first!
