So... I just called my local mental health clinic and made an appointment, and now I feel horrible... I lied to the person who took my call.
She asked if I had any thoughts of hurting myself or others... and I told her no. I didn't tell her I was a self harmer or that the voices
are telling me to hurt (or even kill) my husband's family!!!!
Is that a bad thing? Would they have seen me sooner if I told the truth? (my appointment is on the 18th)
She asked me what was the reason I was making an appointment and all I said was "uhh... just severe depression"
Would it have made any difference if I had told the truth... that I am depressed, self-medicating, hearing voices, a self harmer,
wanting to hurt/kill people (including myself), etc????
Should I try to call them back and see if I can be seen sooner?

Yes Manda, I think you should call back and tell them the truth. You are suffering and going through so many things and I think you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Please call them again and ask for help.
Thanks for this!

I called them back and explained everything.
They didn't have any sooner appointments,
but they put my name on an early cancellation
list... so if someone cancels their appointment,
I will get it.
Thanks for this!

Good for you for calling back. I'm with LLT - I hope someone cancels and a spot opens up for you

If the thoughts get too overwhelming, don't be afraid to go to the ER and ask for help.

Thanks for this!
