I've been wondering if my old therapist has retired. I know he retired from teaching. I sure could use his help. Can't afford to go anyway because we are retired and our insurance won't pay. Guess that's why I'm here tonight. Haven't been here for quite a while.

Hi Ozzie ((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))))) Could you perhaps check out a local community center that offers mental health counseling? I know it's not your T but they may be able to help. You want to share what's going on?

I think that is a good idea about the community health center.

I'm sorry things are hard for you right now.

((( ozzie ))) It is always good to see you and I'm sorry you are struggling.

I wonder if you could call to find out if your former therapist is retired and see if he knows of someone who could help.

Community mental health services is a good idea. I had several therapists there. Another option might be a university nearby. Often they offer therapy to the community at a very reduced rate. One university in the metropolitan area I am in offers therapy for $10.

I found my therapist by contacting a psychoanalytic institute in the nearest large city in my area. They referred me to a candidate of the institute who is in practice in my area. A candidate is a student who is already a therapist and is studying psychoanalysis. Some of these institutes offer therapy there. The one by me did not. I was very fortunate they had a candidate to refer me to and she's wonderful.

I hope you will make come calls and see what you can find

Do you want to say more about what's going on with you? ((( ozzie )))

I agree - I think that referral is often the best way to find someone, especially if you can start with someone who knows you and knows what you need and who is most likely to be a good fit and who you can afford!

Good luck!!

Nothing to lose by contacting him. Maybe his fee structrue will take into account your situation.

Don't know until you try.

Maybe I'll try after I get caught up on some bills.

Hi Ozzie,

Maybe you could contact your old T (if he's around) and see him on a less frequent basis and also ask him for a reduced fee because you are retired?

Otherwise I agree you could check a community center or even if there is a retirement community near you they might have a social worker there that you could go to for therapy.

((((((((ozzie)))))))))
