I'm just getting this off my chest before I sleep, other wise I won't.
My ex and I after we broke up were still best friends. We have a really unhealthy relationship and It's the best bet that we stop talking and hanging out for the moment until he gets his crap back together. Yet, I can't help but cry because while we are fixing our relationship I'm losing my best friend for a while. It's hard because going from hanging out everyday or every other day to just saying hi and small talk if we somehow see each other somewhere just breaks me up inside. The thing behind our relationship is that we broke up but were still friends with benefits. But, it was also more than that. It was a friendship where I could call him at 4 in the morning and cry about something ridiculous and have him just listen and even be there to tell me when I was sounding stupid. But, I don't know what to do now. I am basically going to turn into a home body until he straightens his head out because we both hang out at the same places and that is just too awkward for me. If there is anyone who has gone though this, if you can tell me what I can do in the meantime while I wait for him to come back ![]() -A |

I used to have a friend like that. He never did get his head on straight as far as relationships are concerned. It was hard since we had the same friends. The thing is we were engaged when we broke up. I had to rearrange my life when the relationship ended. We were going to be living in another state where he was stationed, so I had enrolled in college there. Thankfully the local college honored the my scholarship and accepted me at the last minute. That was over 24 years ago. I moved on and when he decided he was ready I was already in another relationship. I have been married now for 23 years to the man I met in college. I know it hurts now. Time does heal all wounds.
