My partner feels like i treat her as a third wheel. Our son is constantly getting in between us. And i usually give in just to make him happy. And i know this is wrong. Can someone tell me what to do so that i can balance this out, the weekends are mine and my partner's time to snuggle and sleep in but our 5 yr old will not keep quiet. right now he is sleeping in the same room with us in his own bed until our apartment is ready to move into in the end of july. help me before she leaves me

Find other parents of school friends, etc. and let him sleep over their house; I'm sure their parents would like the favor returned.

Maybe make a special place for the 5 year old to be to watch TV or special movies on a quilt in the living room?

Can you all do a night out together, get a sitter for the 5 year old (or trade with a friend with a young child).

Can his grandparents take him for a weekend or a favorite aunt/uncle?

You cant put your child ahead of your spouse/girlfriend. It is going to cause her to resent not only you, but the child. I would get the child to sleep in his own bed, he is 5 years old.

Do you know why you put his needs ahead of hers? that would be a great place to start.

Totally agree with both of these wise ones. If you give in for peace all you are doing is teaching the child to be a noisy obnoxious brat who won't give in until he gets what he wants...I'm with your partner on this one,

Rhi
