My sister's sister-in-law invited me to this "thing". It's kind of weird - a "spiritual enlightenment" and empowerment kind of thing. Anyway, I signed up, then I looked into it and discussed it with my therapist, and I decided to cancel and ask for my money back. They gave it back, no problem. But these people are acting like I'm "not ready for it yet" or as she said "you're afraid." She told my sister I "I guess she has her limitations."

My sister says just ignore her remark. I'd like to tell her -- HEY! It's not limitations - it's boundaries. I spend time doing what I want to do and don't do what I don't want to do!! Why all this pressure??? I guess I'll have to "LIMIT" my time with her.

I applaud you making your own decisions, setting your own boundaries.

Unfortunately some folks who get caught up in whatever type of belief system then get pushy and rather insulting to those who are not yet convinced. They can get manipulative, can love bomb folks then corral them into things they really might not want to do.

We always get to say No for any reason at anytime, we get to cancel just cause, we get our money back. The group members might have their whatever beliefs about that, but ultimately them bad mouthing us is just nonsense. We get to choose what we do.

Can you tell I speak from experience? pressure So glad you are gonna limit your time spent with those who try to apply pressure.

I don't know - as I've been on a spiritual quest for enlightenment since I was conscious of it - call me close-minded, but if you have to pay for enlightenment, I don't think it's very enlightening. It does lighten your wallet, though... I mean, Buddha got his enlightenment by sitting under a fig tree - for free.
