My wife and myself have just started marriage counseling. The first one we tryed together(first visit) through my insurance we both didn't really like. I went to another by myself first and she is next. I have gotten some advice but what do i look for in a marriage counsler besides the cost per visit? There seems to be so many here in NJ what sets one out from the rest?

For me it was someone that we clicked with... the first one was terrible, half way through the session she was asking how we wanted to divide the assets and the house - SOOOO not the reason we were in counselling, we wanted to fix out relationship.
You need to shop around I think. Find someone you are both happy talking too that gives advice that you can actually follow.

Hello warnersafe,
Have you tried asking your GP? Quite often they are in the loop and know who the better counsellors and therapists are in an area. It can be a minefield when looking so maybe if you start at the doctors office often they have information leaflets or service maps; good luck with your search, Rhiannon
