Is anyone else on here in a long distance relationship? 12,000 miles for me. How much more long distance can you get?
If you are, how do you keep in touch with each other? |

I have been in a long distance relationship (with the benefit of him coming back every 4 weeks though). Skype (free download) was a great way to stay in touch - video chat etc. all I can suggest is not to call every night as it got a bit frustrating to have not much to talk about other than the working day.

I have been in a somewhat long distance relationship for the past two years. This distance is only some 250 miles as the crow flies but the English Channel is in between.
Practical and economic considerations limit our options and the very difficult mental and physical health situation of my girl makes it practically impossible for her to be much further than 10 miles away from her home, so its up to me to travel to her. She is very, very , very special though. |

I was in a long distance relationship for four years. We started out as about 650 miles, then went to 1020 miles. Then we were seperated by the Atlantic for 6 months (Massachusetts to Germany), then it was back to just around 1000, and FINALLY 120 miles That's what happens when you're in college, one of you studies abroad and the other transfers, and one graduates and one stays at school, etc. Lol, basically, I know long distance, short distance, ocean distance, everything. Now we're living together and just had the fifth year anniversary of our first date (we don't have an anniversary of when we started going out partially cause we broke up for a few months early on, partially cause he never really asked me back out the second time around, lol).
During all of that we kept in touch using cell phones (he frequently got in trouble for going over minutes), text messages, instant messaging, googletalk, and eventually skype. We were from the same home town, so whenever there were breaks, we usually got to see each other without too much trouble. We also used to play games online together, which was fun. Sarek, I understand having issues that make the relationship difficult. I have depression and an anxiety disorder, and possibly bipolar, and it has really tested our relationship several times (even since we've been living together). I feel bad for all the crap I put my boyfriend through. Just so you know, though, I am sure she appreciates everything you do for her, especially traveling so far. |
