i have been with my boyfriend for almost a year. when i first met him i knew he had anxiety issues but over the past few months he has progressively gotten worse. anxiety isn't the main issue at the moment, its depression. i dont know if he or anyone else other than me can see it. over the past few months we have had the normal talks about our future and children.. he has never been keen on the idea as he keeps saying that he needs to fight his demons and be selfish with personal goals.last night he came over and we continued a talk we had started but never ended 2 nights ago. the general jist of the conversation was about him only seeing black and white but no colour in between, he has shut me out of particular parts of his life and he has no motivation to socialise. he is angry all the time, his sleep has become aggressive with snoring and teeth grinding... during our talk he proceeded in saying that he cant be selfish anymore and he has to let me go, he cant "fight his demons" and continue a relationship with me.then he goes on to say that i should move on with my life and find someone that can give me everything i need and more. of course for me this was the hardest thing to hear and i am distraught and heart broken. i understand what he is going through and i want to be by his side to help him through this.. but im getting pushed away. what do i do? i cant lose him...

Hi, heartbroken, welcome to PsychCentral (PC). It's hard when we get pushed away by those we love, my first love did that to me but we can't stay if they don't want us to. They have to want us in their lives for us to be able to help them.
I would work on your own life goals now and maybe in a bit he will get better or have success and come back to wanting you in his life and you can decide at that time if you want to try again with him to have a relationship.
