Well... we almost lost her, or at least we could have. She had to go through 3 hours of bowel surgery when she was only 8 hrs old.

Last night was the worst night...alot of stress, fear, crying, hysteria.

Got to the hospital and was 20 mins late. We didn't get to see her...I still haven't seen my niece yet. Baby Update.

She made it through her bowels had to be cut etc, part of her bowel as of right now is hanging outside the body to drain stuff.

Once she is recovered from that she needs to go for more surgery to re-attach the bowels, check for scar tissue and see if there is any blockage.

She also has alot of brusing on her little belly, and some jaundace.

She came out at a decent weight for a premie, 4 1/2 lbs. But she's lost weight since she's been sick, poor thing has tubes galore... She's the only premie in the nursery that is covered in them. I hope I get to meet her soon.

Little Kayla isn't out of the woods yet...

yeah she is still really sick.. Baby Update. the nurses have said that they haven't seen a baby this sick in a long time.

There is a chance that MAYBE she could come off of one of her machines so we'll see. She is doing well, the doctors however told my sister when she came home this morning that no news is good news.

So I likely wont get to see her though for a looooong time. Baby Update.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Sundance}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I'm so sorry for everything that your family and especially your niece are going through!! I've got a grandson in the neo-natal nursery who also had to be taken by emergency C-section. He weighed 4 lbs 6 oz, basically dead; no heartbeat, but they brought him back. He, too, had all kinds of tubes going into him.

It's normal for them to lose weight after they're born, even full term babies. They're quite water logged when they're born. Baby Update. The jaundice is also normal, even for full term babies.

As for your neices bowel, I haven't read where you told of the problem but it sounds pretty bad! Be sure that you and your family are in my prayers. Baby Update.

She is doing better ... I was finally able to meet her, and man is she gorgous, for a premie she doesn't even look funny lol.. she looks better then I did when I was born.. :P I got to touch her head and she held onto my finger, I have tiny fingers and she couldn't wrap her hand around mind. Her head is like the size of a tennis ball.

She is doing well.. they might be introducing breast milk to her next week, she is off all her tubes pretty much except for her small tube in her nose and bowel...

She'll have to go through a second surgery eventually, but the doctors said as long as she is healthy it wouldn't be an issue. So things are looking good so far... ;D

However I'm sick with a cold. Baby Update. So now I won't be able to go to the neo-natal until i'm 100% well.. Perfect timing huh? And the bf is taking off tomorrow morning for skiing and wont be back until Tuesday.

Anyways that's what is going on.
