I wanted to post some positive progress, since I mostly post problems or negative outcomes.

Today was a day that went from severely bad to remarkably good. My son has been sick, teething, and being a typical tyrannical toddler for over a week now. Although my boyfriend and I have been able to give each other some occasional relief, we have been at each others throats most of the time. We have very little social life, since he is incredibly picky regarding his friends and whoever I bring to the table simply isn't good enough. Finally, he decided to invite some friends from work over on New Years and I hit it off with the them. It was a couple, with a toddler about 9 months older than ours, and the mother and I really connected. I feared we would never see them again, but they invited us for dinner and we actually went! It was amazing. The mother and I really see things in a similar way. I am so happy to meet someone of the same sex that I can talk to in a direct way. We have plans to spend time together two weekends from now, and I can't wait. I have felt so trapped up until now, and I feel like the chains are finally being removed.

I thought a positive post would be a nice change. :-) Thank you to everyone who has given me encouragement and advice so far. I am very grateful to have a place to unload and feel safe.

Oh, LazyLogophile, that's wonderful that you've met another woman with a toddler too, someone you can have to do stuff with and maybe trade care with, etc. And that your boyfriend works with the guy and liked him well enough to bring over, is great too as that sounds stable. And I find it much easier to reach out from there to groups and stuff when you have someone to go with.

I love positive posts...so, keep em coming. Not having friends outside a marriage/relationship often spells disaster so hopefully you're on the right track there. Good luck.
Thanks for this!
