there is this guy who I am not really close friends with. I have known him for a long time but I seem to barely know him. I care about him though; for whatever reason, I really care. But he is depressed and he keeps saying things like "it wouldnt be sad if i died" and he openly expresses that he wishes he was dead and all this stuff. He's in a different country at the moment and again I'm not very close to him.. But I can't ignore the things he says on facebook, but I have no idea what to say. Any advice? I really worry that one day he will acually do something bad... But I feel like there is nothing I can do. I feel like I'm not even in any place to do something.

Quote:
You might let him know, in a relaxed, nonchalant sort of way, that he could find help with his feelings by talking to his doctor or getting a therapist. I have no idea how resistant he may be to such advice, many people are resistant. You might in the same manner mention that many people think suicidal ideas are the products of an illness that can be cured and for which there are medications. As well as getting across to him that it frequently looks, to the person having such feelings, that their ideas are perfectly logical and realistic, but they're really not. If you know any of his people, and you believe them to be loving and caring, you might want to consider letting them know too. The best of luck! Take care. ![]()

Do you know any of his guy friends? I would read what others write and just chat with him about how you enjoy him and that you would feel bad if he were to do anything to hurt himself.
