I don't know. how can anyone love me? I don't understand how people with problems find anyone to love them. no one has *really* loved me, not enough to stick around... am I doomed?

Numerous times I have asked myself the same thing, how can anyone love me? I think this is a self-esteem related issue more than anything and it should be fought by seeking self-acceptance. Part of that is realizing that humans are imperfect and everyone makes mistakes. Suki22 you are not doomed. There are people (and animals of course) that will grow to love you after getting to know you. It would help if you could grow to accept yourself.

Please consider the following quote:

Quote:
We must achieve self-forgiveness; our strength and self-acceptance must come from within. We will never be able to forgive ourselves if we rely on outside forces to pardon us, as those forces are outside our control.
My therapist sent this to me last year. It was part of an article on self-forgiveness and those sentences stuck out to me the most. I'm trying to work on not being so hard on myself. By the way, I do not know where the quote originates as I have seen it written on several websites.

That was beautiful. Very well said. The answer is yes, you will find someone who will love you for who you are, but I agree that we must accept and love ourselves before we can expect anyone else to. I wish you the best.
